Warnock's gone but Leeds are still failing in the final third

Poor Old Big Gob, despite what everybody else thought, he knew he was doing a great job, a better job than anybody else could have done. There was just one problem. Leeds, according to the Warnock, weren't good enough in the final third.

Fair enough. But which final third was the Warnock referring to exactly? The final third of the pitch? Well no arguments there! How many times has the team managed two goals in a game since Becchio's departure? Twice I think. So much for the Welsh Goal Machine, The Fresh Choice For You, Morison!

Then again, the Warnock could just as easily have been talking about the final third of games. How many points have been tossed away because of goals conceded in the later stages of matches because the old nags can't last out 90 minutes? It's become an alarming habit since the Leicester game!

But then again, he might have meant the final third of the season! Leeds have now sunk back into sixteenth place in the table, the lowest they have been for some time, and the relegation pack are sniffing at their heels. Whilst relegation is very unlikely, it is certainly far from impossible given the freakish results this Micky Mouse division keeps throwing up.

And today's game illustrated all three final third failings. One goal scored from just six shots all game, Morison still firing blanks and defeat courtesy of a goal in injury time, even though Charlton had not previously managed a stoppage time goal all season.

And tell me, what was the point of replacing the Warnock with Redfearn given the team selection today and the substitutions? Surely the man on the touchline was Old Big Gob in a Mission Impossible style mask? How else can you explain the decision to send on Shit Brown on 88 minutes with the score at 1-1, with Hell Hadji, Haribo and Poleon Dancer on the bench? Leeds United were playing for a draw against Charlton Pathetic! How humiliating.

I posted before the game that Leeds had learnt nothing since the Warnock's departure and this game illustrated my point perfectly. The Warnock would probably have picked the same team. The Warnock would have employed the same tactics. And the Warnock would have ignored his three most attacking substitutes too.

Still, given the surname of the acting manager, perhaps we should stop being too analytical and simply say, "Give us a twirl my dear. Doesn't she look gorgeous? Good game! Good game!"

So, where will Leeds finish? Higher? Higher? No Lower? Lower? Oh what wouldn't Leeds give to get a pair in any game before the end of the season!

  2. You are right HF. Its a shambles in all aspects - the first third of the pitch is hardly inspiring and the second has been absent all season - what a mess. What crap end it looks like being to a crap season. Clinging on to Championship footy if we are lucky...

    Its all very, very sad...

  5. You will never EVER get it ,,, why ?! Because your a nerd ,, I know a 15 yr old autistic kid who has no friends apart from his virtual friends on line, i suspect your the same , you have no friends so you've created this blog so you have the attention you crave but don't receive in the real world

  6. I'm a little confused. Did you go to the game today ? I guess so otherwise you would not be in a position to comment on today's performance.

  7. Why are you confused? Do I comment on the performance? Don't think so. I comment on team selection, tactics and substitutions. Don't need to be at the game to do that!

2212, it's still hurting that so many like this blog isn't it?

  8. Simple... Bates and the new owners are to Blame.. why.. coz we never invested in quality players. It's the same old story , sell, sell, sell and bring in no quality players.

No doubt when the season finishes, we will sell the remainder of our top quality players.

I despair... two season has gone by and I have not and will not renew my season ticket, until we keep our top players and invest in top quality players! Simples.

  10. I was wondering how you'd manage to fit Leeds into your blog now Warnock's gone.

  11. 2212 , hit a raw nerve me thinks , nothing hurts , not one thing ,, i don't think for one min that people actually like this blog , as I've said many times , your other postings get very little response so you always revert to insulting Leeds utd because it garentees you the most attention and that's what must be lacking in your life ,, and of course your making comments on performance , tactics , team selections etc , why else would you be writing this blog !?? Oh yeah , your right , you don't want to discuss any of the above, you just feel the need to vent your splien about a club you don't even support and that's why the majority can't stand you , not because of the crap you have to say but the fact that you only say it because your getting the attention ,, as I've said matey , write about any other team and no one listens , no one responds

  12. Let's all laugh at Leeds. What a bunch of has-beens. All season long HF hasa had to endure derision and promises that the MOT crowd would be MO into the Premiership whilst the Hapless Hammers would be coming back the other way. Dr Weevil? Where is that prick, now? Face it you Northern twats, you simply exist in history. Good luck next season in your quest to reach the big time again. At the moment, you are a country mile short. HM

  14. I commend the research you must go to to write about Leeds.'Charlton haven't scored an injury time goal all year'...How much work you must have gone to to drum up that !
I bet you don't even know if West Ham have scored in injury time this year!
My point here being the level of research you go into to try and kick the supporters of this team Leeds United, when they are down, is incredibly spiteful.
Here's what's going on. Leeds are failing and the season is over. Don't think they'll go down but they are a team without confidence and need strong leadership.
Better to wait for the new season to find that leadership v having your Anthea hold them together for 5 games and bet they can claw a couple of wins and stay safe? This is the real question about Leeds right now. Write a balanced blog on that rather than endless drivel giving you the chance to display the 12 year old boy nicknames you have come up with for the Leeds players.
'Didn't he do well?'. 'No Brucie, he didn't'.

    1. So you commend my research - there's a start! Actually, if you read the BBC report on your team's last game, you would have discovered that fact without my help. Now that may represent "research" for you, but when I was at University, research was a little bit more demanding!

      Delete
    2. So you're saying you got that information about Charlton on the cheap and have plagerised it and then assumed we must have all read the BBC report.
It seems to me all this proves is that you read everything you can about Leeds written by others and use this information to form the basis of your 'original ideas'
What your old University lecturer make of that behaviour?

  15. And well done for helping the youngsters with the Anthea and Brucie explanation. Didn't you do well? Wonder who will be on the Leeds conveyor belt at the end of the season? Not Brown, the old boy has secured a new contract to see him another year through retirement!

I predict train tickets to the East End on the conveyor belt next year as Leeds fans will be visiting the relegated West Ham.
