Nice Guy Brian to Manage Reservoir Dogs at Leeds?

They had one Brian who famously did not fit in, but McDermott is cut from completely different cloth than Clough. He is the perennial nice guy, looking more like a studious university lecturer than a football manager.

Does he have what it takes to turn the reservoir dogs  of Leeds into a decent team in his own image? Well he has a Mr Brown in place and a Mr White and Mr Green, but I can't see many of the Warnock's dregs happy to play the Mr Pink.

McDermott's record at Reading was excellent but his CV is thin. It may be that he was simply the right man in the right place at the right time, and there have to be big question marks over his ability to successfully  take over a club of the size of Leeds, with problems as big as those at Elland Road.

Reading tended to win games in spurts under McDermott. He seems to be able to get a team on a roll when their confidence is high, but he has struggled when form has dipped. Great when the Big Dipper is on the climb, not so clever when it is on the way down.

And in which direction have Leeds been heading lately?

I wish him luck because I like him, but Nice Guy Brian is going to need it!

  3. So, you are actually a Leeds fan then, Scott? Warnock has gone so there really is not even a tenuous West Ham link anymore.

Or...you know Leeds fans are the only ones numerous enough to keep your pathetic troll blog rolling on. Your attempts at trolling are ever more hilarious as you engage in Internet Battles from your Romanian hideout. Come back to the UK, keyboard warrior, attend some games for a change.

  4. The biggest (and possibly insurmountable) challenge facing mcdermott is being able to work with the cowboys running the club. If someone hard-headed like warnock couldn't handle them, mcdermott - nice guy that he is - will have no chance. GFBates must have seen him coming.

    1. I haven't slated him and I have wished him well. I suspect he has been appointed because he has succeeded despite being starved of cash!

  9. Why is it that every history programme on tv features some posh ponce with rhotacism? Is it part of a history degree course where they teach students to talk like twats or is it being buggered at the bbc that causes it? Got a day off today and had that Edwardian Farm on and there's one of the wankers on there too. Pure Twattery.

  12. Listen pal show us your true colours or are you ashamed of your little club who have achieved nothing. We at leeds have no problems and not much debt. Yes we have had a headache for a while but the mighty whites are on the up again and nice guy brian will lead us to the top. So when your porn king pockets empty and your bubbles burst will you go and support Dagenham who seem to have better prospects than your little crap skint team.

  13. Why don't you f--k off and start trolling clubs who are above you in the league instead of writing dross about bigger clubs than you who have hit hard times? Warnock has gone, so stop trying to get cheap hits on this amateur blog at Leeds expense.

  17. Personally would have preferred O'Leary but taking all factors into account McDermott is probably the right man in the right place at the right time, as you say.

On paper Poyet was probably the strongest candidate but events at Brighton and a £2.5m compensation payment mean he will need to wait a little longer for his slot.

Let's hope he can keep us up. Irrespective though the squad in August will be alot weaker than it is currently (hard to believe I know), mark my words. There are still a few assets left to strip (namely Byron, McCormack etc). As such I'm afraid we will be genuine relegation candidates next season.

Please, no talk of promotion next season its really embarrassing. A few of you have already made complete tits of yourself on here.
