Allardyce to swap West Ham for Leeds?

It must be a late April's Fool! The Mirror, in a masterpiece of lazy journalism, has linked Allardyce to Leeds on the basis that he is out of contract in the summer, and Leeds need a new manager. There is, of course, no evidence to support the story - not even a tapped phone call! - and, if you can be bothered to read a little further down, you will find the rag refuting its own story.

As the article admits, Leeds would struggle to match the wages West Ham are able to offer Allardyce, and, after being sacked following two take overs, Doctor Evil is hardly likely to climb aboard the White Pig when the Arab bank built on sand are hawking the club like a Bedouin in a bazaar.

The uncomfortable truth for Leeds fans is that whilst Allardyce is ideally qualified to take on the Warnock's rag bag collection of cloggers, Leeds United can no longer compete on a level playing field, financially, with West Ham. Yes a clapped out former England left back may fancy a long term contract to ease him into retirement rather than a four month extension to his Prem career, but  Allardyce isn't desperate and knows when he is on to a good thing.

So tell me, why would anybody swap a Premiership club about to move into the Olympic Stadium and owned by lifelong fans for a team struggling to survive in the Championship, owned as a short term investment, without a stadium and accept lower wages into the bargain?

The Mirror article was a cheap way of generating hits if you ask me!

  3. "cheap way of generating hits" POT meet KETTLE as that's all your Leeds posts are for.

As for Allardyce being ideally qualified to take on "Warnock's rag bag collection of cloggers" - Of course he is, he's had plenty of experience dealing with your lot.

  6. I recognise the irony H F.Come on Leeds fans, he's just having a laugh! He knows that he writes totally uninformed drivel without any factual base, just like the Mirror. Thanks for pointing this out H F.
Quite big of you to finally admit it actually!

  13. I do read this blog a lot albeit a West Ham one which shows a somewhat unhealthy but very interesting and entertaining insight into the trials and tribulations of the once mighty but forgotten Whites......what goes around comes around and we will be back in the big time at some juncture altho god only knows when and probably pass you falling thru the trap door when we do...But for the meantime I have no defence against anything said against Leeds .....Freefall springs to mind at the moment with Div 1 insight at the moment....just enjoy it while you can as I do ur blog however how harsh it may seem............but remember every dog has its day.....keep up the good work..!!

  20. Leeds are a bigger club and that's why. GFH are doing the right thing rather than looking at managers who have poor CV's they are looking to managers with no blemishes. If Allardyce has confidence in his abilities to get us into the premiership then we are competing with everyone again but the Leeds following, history, tradition, ego etc will all take over West ham or similar. You've got the better of us for now but you aren't a bigger club.

  21. Ihope this is just a way of getting a better contract and more transfer funds before commiting his(Dinasaurdyce)future to your lot!we(like the geordies)Don't want that gum chewing, Fergie arse kissing long ball merchant anywhere near leeds! We have just got rid of 1 inept fool,(who is being touted as a future director of football, nearly pissed myself with laughter, of charlton amongst others). So he's left us now who will you be writing your blogs about next? Seems it's down too colin's next appointment!!!!

  22. GFH - potless but more importantly clueless.

Warnock - greatest crime was his complete and utter delusion.

Bates - the real culprit. Spent every penny available developing the East stand, fighting personal court cases and paying extortionate rent for ER. This includes all monies from player sales and mortgaging season ticket sales for the next 3 years. All to the benefit of Ken Bates and expense of Leeds United.

    These are the facts.

With respect, Hammersfan you never once emphasised the role of Bates in the latest downfall of Leeds United. This can mean only one of two things. Either this was just a childish wind up all along or you know absolutely nothing about the club you have claimed to follow all season. Which one is it?

    ReplyDelete
  23. ...and Warnock will become Director of Football at West Ham next season.

  24. I think it would be a good move for Allardyce, moving to a big club with potential to get into the top ten.

  25. Wow u felt the need to go on the defensive against a cheap mirror article, lmao. Says a lot without actually saying it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. On the upside HF, at least this article, albeit as pointless as all the others you write about Leeds, is tied in with the team you actually support, well claim too anyway. Your on the right track, next thing you need to do is drop Leeds, warnock and all other words and names associated with Leeds and you'll be cured. So excited for you
