Massive injury blow to Leeds United's Green

What a shame for Paul Green and for Leeds United Football Club. It's not often, these days, that any player associated with  the club gets the opportunity to play at Wembley, so the hamstring injury that has ruled Green out of Ireland's game with England, and subsequent games against the Faroe Isles and Spain, is a huge blow.

Still, it will give Green a longer summer break and, from a selfish Leeds perspective, that may be good news in the longer run.

Playing for your country has not always been a huge deal for Leeds players anyway. Those with long enough memories will recall Paul Madeley telling Ramsay where to stick the World Cup when he was offered the opportunity to replace Reaney in the 1970 squad for Mexico. Madeley had already made plans for the summer you see, so going to the World Cup just seemed like a terrible chore.

You had to love the players in that Revie squad!

  1. Why is it a shame for Leeds united, do they get paid huge sums of money when their players appear for their country, Is it any different to a Man United player being injured just days before all of their international games but recover for the weekend game with their scum of a club. It's just another example of total bilge that translates from your mouth to your fingertips.

  2. Wow, having a go at Paul Madeley now, a man who is suffering from Parkinson’s disease. You really are one sick, pathetic low life aren’t you?

  3. So what are your plans for the summer? Anything interesting to do or will you continue to sit in front of your laptop in your Y fronts typing out endless Leeds United blogs ?

  4. FYI Leeds provided four players to the 1970 squad, more than any other club! It was actually Ramsey's own fault that he didn't get Reaney or Madeley by insisting that the season be shortened, which forced Leeds into something like a game every other day through March to April. Reaney was lost to a broken leg in this intense period, and Madeley provided engine to the team, so was always shouldering biggest physical burden, you clown!

  6. Well at least the Leeds Players who WERE called up by Alf Ramsey didn't take it as an opportunity to go on a shoplifting spree and bring shame on the nation. Unlike some. Karma caught up in the end though didn't it? 20 years ago to be precise. Oh and thanks for your continued interest/obsession with Leeds. Nice to know we're still a big club worthy of other supporters interest and envy. Funny how no Leeds fans blog about other clubs though?

  7. Not necessary to attack Paul madeley, a man who was the utmost professional on the pitch for Leeds or England, and is now sadly suffering from Parkinsons disease. Why not show some respect you freak

  15. Madely respectfully declined on the basis that he would only be warming the benches and he preferred to Rest up after a long arduous season. Sir Alf understood fully and bore no grudge. Madeley got his full England call up the following year.

Rings with truth to me as Leeds were chasing a lot of trophies in all competitions back then and Madeley was a mainstay of the team

So HF, get back under your rock, you snivelling little Brazilian female impersonator.

  36. HF- Q1- Are you still going to blog about Leeds United this new season ?
Q2- If not Leeds who ?
Q3- If you carry on your growing love of Leeds which you informed me in a previous post, please stop the childish rants and wind ups and pretend to be a decent hack and blog some in depth posts, can you do that?
Q4- Finally you do know who shrek is when I refer to him in a previous post, if not do some research and you may know what I am talking about ?
    All my love, W.A.C.C.O.E
