Are Leeds About To Do Another Watford As Warnock Repeats Pledge?

Anybody remember what happened the last time Warnock promised a gung-ho approach to a game? Zola does! Watford came to town and helped themselves to six goals!

But Old Big Gob was at it again after Leeds slipped still further adrift in the sack race for the last play off place. According to Neil, Leeds have "got to try and win our next three or four games and go gung-ho."

Last time, of course, it ended up more Gok Wan than Gung Ho, but Warnock has never been one to learn from previous mistakes.

He was back talking of the "glass half empty" mentality at Leeds again and calling for a "glass half full" approach. What he doesn't seem to understand is that half full or half empty isn't good enough, it has to be four fifths full to count! It is sixth place or nowhere!

So now Neil pledges to "try and win" the next three or four games. It's an interesting approach. Perhaps he should have adopted it in the last three games, then the need might not now be so great!

Meanwhile, Warnock seems to have been watching a different season unfold from the rest of us. According to him, "You can only do your best as a manager and I think we’ve had a good season". Well if this is a good season, you have to wonder why his predecessor was shown the door last season with the team three places higher in the table!

He does have a novel solution to the problem, however, saying, " Unless I actually run on the pitch and put the chances in, I don’t know what I can do." That's a great way to build the confidence of recently signed Welsh Goal Machine Morison isn't it? Maybe, just maybe, it might have been better to retain the proven scorer Becchio instead?

Still, the talented young Barkley is on his way back to Everton as Warnock can't fit him into the team with the likes of Brown in the squad, so there's still hope of a late Leeds charge! Hold on to your Kiss Me Quick Hats for the Blackpool game, here comes Neil Warnock with his Gok Wan, sorry Gung Ho, Leeds United makeover! And never mind that Glass Half Empty approach, Leeds will have a Stadium Half Full attitude instead!

  1. Did you ever consider writing for the Yorkshire Post?

  2. Always find you articles worth reading even though most I don't agree with. The one thing you missed out on though is Warnock's favorite saying "If I'm honest"!. Is he really being honest? I for one don't think so.

Well for once I agree with you and the sooner, quote you 'old big gob' has gone the better. Its what he leaves behind thats the problem the majority of the squad built up of geriatrics all on 2 & 1/2 year deals.

GFH have owned us for 8 weeks and even they can't wait to get out of Leeds United.

Well theres always next season lets see what dramatics that brings.

  4. Do you get sexually aroused writing all this anti Leeds stuff. Whether its right, wrong or otherwise, there just seems little point to you doing this. Explain your obsession. We'd all be very interested in why you do it

  9. you have to help us to get Warnock sacked, no Im pretty irritated on whats going on in Elland Road. Season is over and no bright light in the near future.

  10. you spend more time thinking about Watford FC than most of our supporters.
Just admit that you're bitter and obsessed about Zola's time in charge of your club and move on.
surely there's stuff to write about the days when your club was famous.

  11. C'mon hf! Even you know the reasons Watford got their goals tally. A sending off and a player stretchered off after all subs had been used. As for keeping Becchio, that was a non-starter, he'd handed in his request to leave, you and I both know you can't keep a player who wants to be away. Agree with you about Barkley though, NW should for extended his loan for the rest of the season. Warnock just seems to love kicking himself up the arse. eg. not making a change unless we fall behind, and signing players and not playing them (Tonge & Hall)

    1. Becchio handed a transfer request because Warnock criticised Becchio after Barnsley match. Totally undeserved criticism,I undrstand Becchio...

  13. Yep I agree all we need now are new owners with some cash, a new manager that likes to play football, and the back of master bates.. Then the fans will return. You can only watch this crap for a short period without realising your wasting your hard earned money...

  15. You should forget about Warnock and the football and elevate your perceptory skills for stating the obvious to a level that gives us all some insight as to when are Mr Bates and GFHC are going to sell their combined share ownership of LUFC and get out of this Club.

Warnock isn't going anywhere is he... There's no blooody money to pay him off anyway. So let's enjoy the gung ho and look at what we could have won.

  17. Warnock said a few times in the past that he'd felt like walking away but had stayed at his post because of the support he was getting from the fans. The fans are starting to turn on him and I don't think the dressing room can be a very happy place at the minute either. I wonder if cuddly Ken still has Di Matteo's phone number? I'm sure there'll be a managerial vacancy at LS8 before very long. The question is: will he walk away under his own steam or will he need a hefty push?

  18. Hey that's true, I had forgotten about that, you must have Leeds on the brain- there were VERY strange circumstances in the Watford game. Its funny but Leeds best performance for a while was when Warnock told the players to go out and play football and enjoy themselves against Birmingham in the second half of the FA cup match, maybe passing the ball might prove a refreshing change for everyone!

To be fair to Warnock his hands have been tied for nearly all of the season and then he is expected to work miracles with 15 games to go...

  19. Actually spot on here for once. Warnock talks so much sh*t. Nobody wants him here and the sooner this season is over the better. Get someone in with half an idea for tactics next season!

  20. haha. Warnock is a twat. Good article for a change.

  21. I have lost all faith this season, reckon we will end up 5 points clear of relegation spots, Colin is useless and tactically inept. we had the players to get us to the next level but let them go again and again.............zero investment means zero faith. roll on next season as this one is already over!

  24. I actually think the majority of my fellow Leeds fans are miserable, negative and defeatist - I think I am what you might describe as overly optimistic. However, I have given up on that view now following the last 3 games and am coming round to their way of thinking. I have now had enough of Warnock and his cliche-ridden drivel and I am no longer enamoured with the Bates/GFH connection. I have tried to keep the faith, but can't be arsed anymore. I think this article reflects the situation at Leeds very accurately and salute you HF for your efforts in producing what can only be described as the musings of a closet Leeds (and Gok Wan) fan.

  25. I think you have lost it. You talk utter bull, always have done, always will do.
You make up stories then add comments and pretend to be someone else.
When you are older you will see how pathetic you sound, just you wait until you are a teenager, then perhaps you will be more grown up about what you write,

  30. Actually I think, just for accuracy, he did suggest going gung ho once after the Watford game. For the life of me I can not remember who it was against, possibly your posh cousins Tottenham we definitely won anyway and played some decent football. Something we are not used to much from him!! 31. One of the best blogs about Leeds there is. Here you have someone (HF) unbiased telling things the way they are. If you want an honest view on how shambolic our once great club has become, this is it. LUFC is run by a bunch of cowboys: it doesn't matter who's managing us atm, we're going nowhere with these charlatans. Keep the blog rolling ...
