Leeds Robbed at Derby by Referee Eltringham

Well that's just not on is it? The Leeds United Sleeper Feel Good Factor Express to the Premiership, Infinity and Beyond pulled into Derby today, with fans looking forward to ramming the Wally's brolly up his arse before firing the opening mechanism, and instead are making the return trip nursing a deep sense of grievance, cheated out of three points by referee Eltringham.

And the referee's crime? He allowed Derby to keep 11 players on the pitch for the full 90 minutes, which pretty much destroyed any chance Friar Brian's merry men had of picking up a victory. Because, ignoring that narrow win over 10 man Bournemouth, Leeds have now lost seven games out of eight when playing against 11 men.

Meanwhile, the travelling fans were given a glimpse of what being a "big team" in the Championship means. Whilst Leeds are struggling to get gates over 20,000, mid table Derby attracted 26,204 today.

Complete Hunt was goalless again today and withdrawn by his best mate McDermott an hour into the match, new signing Murphy was left parked on the substitute's bench, Wootton didn't even make the first 17 and Smith came on and again didn't score. Chairman Nooruddychance will be wondering why, exactly, Friar Brian was so keen to spend the Arab Bank Built on Sand's meagre resources on players who don't even get 90 minutes playing time.

Still, Leeds fans can now tuck into their KFC Family Buckets for the next two weeks without shelling out to watch this mediocre dross. And a few might well ask why they should bother buying a ticket for the next home game given the Chairman has already dismissed the club's promotion chances.

Bloody hell, things were better under Master Bates and Old Big Gob Warnock!

  1. Maybe you should check out the averages attendances to date before typing away HF!!!...but lets be honest, we are pretty shite and going nowhere. Mid table at best! Depressing really!

  2. Yes I agree... it does seem better under MB and OBGW at this stage of the season..Bates must have been so desperate to sell to these pathetic new owners.

  3. I suppose writing this helps take your mind off the fact that West Ham will be relegated this season

  4. I'm an idiot? I think the 4,000 Leeds fans who paid to watch yet another defeat in a season that the Chairman has dismissed as pointless probably quality for that label don't you?

  6. Nonsensical article. You are usually fairly close to the truth, but this is just rubbish. Derby's highest attendance before today was approx 23k, and today the attendance was boosted by 4000 Leeds fans, so obviously it was a high attendance
As for Leeds' attendances, they average just under 24k, so your facts are completely wrong..
Leeds haven't in fact had an attendance under 20k this year in the league. And this isnt even mentioning the 6000 that went to newcastle, 5000 to bolton, 3500 to reading, sell outs at ipswich and millwall, and the 4000 to derby today

  13. We are poor and going nowhere as usual, but surely you don't need to feel sad for West Ham after a couple of mildly disappointing weeks, it must be a living nightmare for you?

  14. things were not better under warnock, our gates are the best of the division (home *and* away) and even if we lose ten more games on the trot we'll still be singing MOT because we will never stop loving our club. What you don't get is that a simple run of bad results can never and will never erase the proud history of a club that has won so many trophies in the country and in Europe. HF, please pay attention: a simple bad run DOES NOT ERASE A SUCCESSFUL HISTORY.

  19. 3 of us wasted £96 on todays performance? Highlight of the day was breakfast in the Rugby Truckstop transport café. Only player that appeared to turn up was Mowatt.

  20. You see hamersfan this is when you let yourself down! Recent blogs have been based more on fact than a piss taking cynical view simply trying to stoke a response! In fact I had even questioned such was the honesty of recent posts if the writer was the same! And now we know it's still the same blinkered why worry about the facts knob of a west ham fan! So if I may be so bold as to correct at least one of your points! Check the football league website, it shows the championship teams with the highest average attendance after the first 10 games and I think you will find Leeds were at the top!! Oh and remind me how are west ham doing in the premiership???
