West Ham fans laughing as Tottenham's Parker closes in on QPR move!

Player of the Year when West Ham finished bottom of the Prem, whilst Nolan, whose goals fired Newcastle to safety in their first season back up, was overlooked, Parker wasn't interested in hanging around and playing in the Championship when we were relegated and refused to sign for any club other than Tottenham. We were over the proverbial barrel and forced to accept a cut price offer from Levy; but Scotty didn't care - he only signed that contract extension when wheeler dealer Redknapp spied a better deal for Van der Vaart at the last moment and Parker was left high and dry at West Ham with no other suitors.

How ironic, therefore, that just two seasons later, Parker is about to slip down into the second tier of English football as Spurs cut their losses on the circle spinning, all effort, no impact, Scotty The Most Overrated Player of the C21st Parker!

How many goals has Parker scored in his two seasons at Spurs? One I think. How many assists? It may be as many as three! What a joke.

Of course, those who seek to defend Parker will babble on about him being a holding midfielder and claim that his contribution in the offensive third is therefore irrelevant, but that is nonsense. Parker thinks he is a box to box player and his positional discipline is therefore poor. And for a 'holding midfielder', his tackling is shocking. How many times does he find himself on the wrong side of an opponent, diving into a tackle and conceding a free kick? Answer, far too often. How many times does he concede free kicks because of poor tackling technique? Answer, far too often. Anybody remember the penalty he conceded at Upton Park last season? Classic Scotty!

In truth, the guy is a master con man. He runs around a lot. He plays with passion and desire. He kisses the badge and the arses of the manager and the fans. But he is decidedly ordinary as a player.

That's why only Redknapp wants him. If he is as good as his admirers claim, why isn't there a queue of Premiership clubs looking to sign him? So why does Redknapp want him? Well Scotty is a family friend and will run through walls for 'Arry, not that running through walls helps win football games, but it looks impressive!

There are still many who regard Parker as a West Ham legend, but he was booed at the Boleyn last season, as an increasing number woke up to the fact that Parker had used us shamelessly to engineer his dream move to Spurs. Well, like Rob Green, he is about to get his just deserts. With Downing and Carroll joining West Ham to enhance their chances of playing in the World Cup in Brazil, Scotty and Rob can look forward to games at Yeovil, Bournemouth and Doncaster. Brilliant!

  1. What a ridiculous article this is.. How many goals and assists did Claude Makelele get at Chelsea? Oh wait, his job was to break up the play and pass the ball to the ball players.. Maybe you should learn a bit more about the game and that different players have different jobs before written multiple lines of rubbish and wasting people's time!

    1. we arent talking about Claude Makelele, this is a good article putting the emphasis on a greedy average at best player who has now to scoff a large helping of humble pie. west ham saved his flagging career, and he could have been a legend id he had shown any loyalty, but he didnt and he is where he should be, in a very small club even in the championship QPR are punching above their weight. Look at Arrys record and look at the clubs and finances after he has riffled through them. get a perspective mate and know your football.

  9. You seem to have an unhealthy obsession with Scott Parker. Constantly appearing on THFC's newsnow page with articles on him. All it does is expose your bitterness of him leaving which is actually contradicts your attempted criticism of him.

Scott Parker left you to sign for Spurs 2 seasons ago. In avoiding a season in the championship, he played alongside Modric, Bale, VDV etc in one of the most entertaining sides in the PL. He got exposure to go to the European Championships as a result and played European football. Now 32, he's considering dropping down the championship. I doubt VERY MUCH, he's regretting leaving West Ham.

  10. Silly article,he was younger when he was with WH,he's now in his thirties and entering the final lap of his career so if he goes to QPR that's about his level - Crap player though - doesn't contribute much in any department!!!

    1. Parker has only become a lesser player recently having spent years playing at full commitment for his respective employers. Seem to recall he played at WHL for West Ham despite the death of his dad earlier that week.

He also regularly took pain killing injections to play through injuries.

I find this kind of article to be quite sickening given the level of commitment AND quality he gave particularly to West Ham.

  15. Almost every bit of this article is absurd. Parker winning player of the year was ridiculous, but are you actually suggesting that Nolan should have won it when he was at Newcastle that season? Clearly that is even more ridiculous. Who does Nolan play for now? Oh West Ham, of course. Did Parker shamelessly use West Ham to move to Tottenham. Absolutely not. He had turned down Tottenham 3 times already to go to a club who offered him more money, Chelsea, Newcastle and, hold on a minute, West Ham. When he went to West Ham, every fan loved him and I mean really loved him. They sang his name constantly and told everyone who listened what an amazing player he was. When West Ham were relegated it was obvious he would move - not many decent players stay in the second tier especially those in the England squad. He went to Tottenham for less wages. West Ham booed him at the Boleyn last season did they? And this was because the fans had realised that he was a con man who had let them down. No this was because it was West Ham's cup final and their former favourite was now playing for the team they want to beat the most. Finally, why are Carroll and Downing joining West Ham? They are joining, in the main, because West Ham still pay ridiculous money to average players because a) they are stupid and b) they have to to try and compete. Downing is a busted flush who scores less than Parker and no one wants Carroll because he is trouble and scores slightly more than Parker. You could have written a well though out article about Parker, but let emotions get in the way and wrote the biggest load of nonsense I have ever read. You have waited 2 years to have a pop at your former favourite player and that was the best you could do. Sad

  16. Im a Spurs fan and although im not going to be too cut up about parker leaving now he was and possibly still is one of the best DEFENSIVE miids we ever had in my lifetime, you cant rate him by goals and assists, but I cant count the number of vital interceptions or tackles he made in front of our defence.

Pretty sure he was our player of the season is his first with us too, the steel we needed in midfield, weve got our brazil midfield duo and Dembele, Siggy and possibly more to come so parker was never going to feature much this season.

He is still a great player and this article just sounds like sour grapes from a bitter west ham fan. He left you when you went down, joined us, played in europe and at the top of the prem and now at 32 or whatever he is now hes joining an exciting project at QPR.

Now on the last lap of his career he is going to play for QPR on a good salary and with Harry and will probably be back up next season. Good luck Scotty thanks for all the effort you put in at Upton Park.

  24. He did a decent job in his first season at spurs. He is older and injuries mean spurs now have better players, especially with the purchases. He gives it his all, and that is the main thing fans ask for. So good luck Scott

  25. Parker was an excellent player for West Ham. I can only imagine you did not attend Upton Park during his period there as your article is not a reflection of reality. Successive player of the year awards were not for the player you describe. When he left it suited both parties so funds could be generated for West Ham to build a side capable of getting out of the Championship. Was Parker supposed to give up on a shot of European football and cementing an England place. Sorry but that has not happened since the days of Brooking, Bonds and Lampard senior. Sorry but you seem to be completely witless.

  26. This West Ham fan is not laughing would love him back as with light weights we have and now a injury prone winger the only fans laughing are Liverpool.......

  27. Scott Parker was right in not continuing with west ham when they were relegated. He was the only and truly footballer west ham had in their team, who wanted to give his best. The other west ham players hardly showed his fighting spirit or tenacity. He was a broken man in spirit. His team of fellow professionals did not rise up to the massive challenge to avoid relegation. He left the team because he was disappointed and couldn't get over it. When the chance came to play for his dream club, a club, we hear presumably, has been supporting since his childhood.

Guys Scott Parker is a true professional and the fact if he has chosen to play for qpr shows he wants to get into a team with a cause. He certainly will be a credit to any team. Let's not run him down and call him names. It's not fair. As a Spurs fan I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Scott Parker for his contributions to our wonderful club. He is a footballer and a gentleman.

    1. Well said Nathan - HF, Fanno or Fanny to his friends - likes to stir it up a bit, and thinks he's being "controversial" whereas in fact, it's just a cry for help and the only way he can get replies on his blog. If his writing was up to scratch and he knew what he was talking about then he wouldn't have to resort to such obvious and puerile techniques.

      Delete
    2. I agree with Nathan completely. You know the phrase "If you can't say anything nice then don't say anything" - well here goes... So Scott went to Spurs - Get over it and move on! He's not the first is he? I wish all professional footballers, especially some in the Premier League, would emulate Scott Parker's total commitment and passion to his team, to give their absolute best for the whole game, every game. The author of the original article does not speak for all West Ham fans thank goodness. Rain or shine, rough with the smooth, good or bad, Scott gave us 100% effort week in week out, and he stirred-up our spirits in the stands, and on telly, and for this I am thankful and will always regard him as one of West Ham's greats. I witnessed this and it was a pleasure to watch him play then. I would gladly have him back even though his best years are probably behind him. We may not enjoy top four glory, and although that would be great, what I want to see is our players giving their best, all the time, on and off the pitch. You can't ask for more. Scott Parker is a modest family man in the public eye. As a sportsman and a gentleman, his conduct is exemplar. He is not vindictive or spiteful, he motivates and inspires his team but he is only human. I wish him well. (Alternatively consider Frank Lampard Junior when Chelsea play the Hammers...). The original author may make money from writing bitter spiteful articles like the one above, but to me it's negative, pointless, unjust and attention-seeking - typical if you want to join the gutter press. All the best Scott, remember the applause from the Hammers fans each week, win or lose, it's still ringing in my ears.

      Delete
  38. one of the poorest, most vindictive articles I've read. If you want to hate him for signing for rivals Spurs that's fine, but a character assassination of Parker - no mate.

His job was to break up the play, win the ball and drive forward with it. And he did score some goals for west ham, inc some vital ones. Noble simply can't do the same job as Parker did, as hard as he tries.
I've lost count of the number of times I've seen parker throw himself in front of a shot to stop a potential goal. No surprise he was the one on the end of the wall who always attacked/blocked free-kicks.
Penalties ? I've seen Noble give away more, and sillier ones. Look at his stats for tackles, blocks, distance and passes. games aren't won simply in the opponents penalty area.
Remember at Everton when Parker, already on the floor tried to head the ball away from an on-rushing Everton midfielder, risking a full-on kick in the face ? How on earth can you question his commitment.
He wanted the move to spurs as they were kicking on for a top 4 spot and so he could remain in London and not uproot his family.

  42. Scott Parker is/was a good pro who always gives 100 per cent to his team right from his days at Charlton. Probably wasted some time at Chelskea but he did more than pretty much the rest of that gutless west ham team of that time put together to keep them up and I had no problem with him going to Spurs or anywhere else. He'd more than earned his corn at West Ham. And in the end despite all the vitriol on here from some - not all - Spurs fans, the Hammers have built a better team than they had then. We're not at Spurs level yet but then we don't have a billionaire in the Bahamas at the moment and even then their best player wants to go. All a bit of a shame really, and as for Downing...have to say I'm not sure, and everyone is quick to judge but ask villa fans and they'll say he was quality for them. Even some of the scousers have not damned the guy. What sticks in the throat for them, rightly, is that Dalglish was mad enough to pay 20m for him. On that basis, if he gets fit, 5m seems pretty good business. Ditto with Carroll.
