McCormack adds £500,000 to value with third league goal for Leeds

Well if Middlesbrough want McCormack, they are going to have to up their offer now! Just as I predicted, Leeds won and, just as I predicted, Reg Varney maintained his goals per game ratio, but much more importantly, McCormack netted the winner again, showing exactly why Tony Nobody wants him, and why GFH would have to be in dire financial straits to let him go.

This really was a big win for Leeds. The three previous results were arguably par for the course, but in view of recent history, a win at Ipswich seems to indicate that a corner has genuinely been turned.  And given McDermott's teams traditionally start the season slowly, 8 points from 4 games - with no defeats - is a wonderful return, and Leeds fans will be gloating justifiably tonight.

There's only one cloud on the horizon. Redknapp still has money burning a hole in his pocket and he may yet take a fancy to Ross. Never mind £2m, 'Arry would gladly part with £5m of Fernandes' money if he thought he would strengthen his squad and weaken a rival team!

  5. Haha. Id snap Arry's hands off at that money. You predict well. Have you placed any bets on West Ham getting into Europe? Im sure the odds are quite good at the moment and seeing as you now have an established Premier league team as opposed to the yo yo team of the past then a small bet may get you some good returns.

  6. Just as you predicted???? Where exactly did you predict Leeds would win today?
As I recall you predicted McCormack would leave and that Leeds hadn't beaten a good side in Brighton on the opening day. Events since prove you to be a lousy predictor don't they!

  7. Unlike the previous regime, GFH have clearly stated their objectives - and they don't include promotion this season. GFH will hold out for the best offer. That's what "extracting value from assets" means - along with profit from selling shares. It's not about sentiment, it's about making money and moving on. The first thing GFH did was to sell the top goal scorer. Leeds always try to move on their best available player in a transfer window. Why ? - because basically they are a selling club. This time it would have been Byram, so McCormack will be next in line - unless offers are considered to be inferior value. What a player, manager or supporter feels is irrelevant - that's just the way it is in business - especially one like investment banking.

    1. 22.11 I don't comprehend the relevance of your comment regarding my acknowledgement of (20.42)'s logical statement on (his/her's) understanding of GFH's business motives. Based on historical evidence (he/she)presents a good argument.

  8. Whilst you're in predicta mode, why don't you give us your top and bottom 3 and the final position of Leeds, if not in those 6.

And of course, the final resting place of WHU........?

    1. Surely top 6 is more relevant?

      1. QPR (sadly)
      2. Forest
      3. Watford
      4. Wigan
      5. Leicester
      6. Blackburn
      7. Reading
      8. Leeds

      Bottom three:

      22. Barnsley
      23. Charlton
      24. Yeovil (sadly)

    2. If West Ham Can keep picking up points away from home and taking all 3 at the Boleyn Ground I think a top 6 finish isn't out of the equation.

Great Result for our boys against a resilient and hard working Ipshit side yesterday. As Uncle Festa says ... Lets take this season one match at a time and see how we do come May 3rd. MOT guys!

  9. God, I bet you're praying hard that Ross gets sold HF.

Personally, I think it's unlikely as it makes no business sense. Would you put a £50 million investment at risk for £1-2million? Would you take £1-2million for a player who could finish top scorer and be worth twice that. Would you spend over a million on a young defender if you had to let your linchpin player go to pay for him?

None of it adds up, except this is undoubtedly sapping energy from Middlesborough's people.

McCormack's agent is a certain Malky McKay. Ross is getting a pay rise quite soon and you don't need to be Mystic Meg to predict that.

As for the rest of the article, based on current form (all games under BM) W5D2L2, predicting a Leeds win against a team with brittle confidence didn't need an old woman with a crystal ball.

Whilst I wouldn't stoop to abusing you as others do, your inconsistency smacks of a talented 15 year old living a dream? And that's a prediction..
