Leeds loanee and former West Ham player helping to sink Millwall fast

When Becchio was sold and Morison arrived as part of the deal, Leeds fans fell over themselves to claim the Yorkshire club had got the better of the deal. Morison was pacey, intelligent and would add a new dimension to the Leeds team apparently. Well he did, for about 20 minutes of one game.

The Reverend McDermott quickly realised that Leeds didn't have a prayer of promotion with the former Millwall and Norwich man up front, so told him to find himself another club, and signed rhyming slang gem Noel Hunt instead.

And where was poor Morison to go? All the Welsh clubs were in the Prem so he turned, instead, to his former employers, hoping to discover past glories. But he couldn't have timed his return more poorly, arriving as Steve Lomas, a former Hammer favourite, took charge of the toothless Lions. Bad, bad, bad mistake.

Tell me, why would Millwall appoint a Hammer to manage the club and why would a Hammer agree to take the job? Okay Bonds did it too, but that didn't work out well for either party did it?

Every manager walks a tightrope, and when results don't go for a club, the fans are likely to call for his head. But the extent of the bile is guaranteed to be magnified a thousand fold when the appointment is unpopular from the off. George Graham was never going to be accepted at Spurs. Geordie Bruce was always on borrowed time at Blunderland. And Blunted Blades Boss Warnock was always going to fall foul of the boo boys once Satan incarnate Master Bates stepped back into the shadows.

You have to feel sorry for Lomas. Despite their cup exploits, Millwall struggled once Wood was allowed to leave and only narrowly avoided the drop last season. It is quite an achievement to score less goals than Leeds but the toothless Lions have managed it, with a grand return of no goals from the first three games of the season. That just shows what good judges those Leeds fans were who hailed Morison a fantastic signing doesn't it? But those very same fans argue that GFH are good for the club!

Mind you Leeds fans aren't paid to make these decisions, so you have to wonder at the judgement of Lomas. Unless, of course, he is a Secret Agent working for West Ham. Mr Double 0 Zero!

  6. We certainly weren't falling over oursleves with joy and anticipation. It was Warnock who told us he would be a legend.

We didn't believe him then and we certainly don't believe him now.

The overall emotion was anger that Becchio had gone and that we'd got Morison plus small change in return.

Your opinions may be designed to entrap the Leeds fans, but your facts aren't usually wrong. This time they are.

  11. 3 games of a 46 game season wont be the end of Millwall, Lomas or Morison for that matter - what a waste of 5 mins reading time! tool!

  13. To those claiming that Leeds fans didn't want Morison, try reading the comments from Leeds fans on this thread. Follow the link and cringe!

    2. Well done hf you are right again. You have drawn us all in to your trap. You clever clever man. Its called baiting if im not mistaken. Make a statement then refer to a previous article of yours to make us all look like idiots. One slight floor in your plan though dr evil genius. Average gate at elland road this year is 28000, average comments on your leeds articles in the region of 40 really cannot be assed to do the correct maths. So is this in your honest opinion a true case study and a good reflection of the leeds fans opinions ? Or option 2 is this you again trying to gain hits for your pathetic ramblings? Is this all designed to get a rise out of some true football fans or are these your true opinions? Please also could you tell me just how many of your fellow west ham supporters actually read this site? I assume its not many as then you wouldnt need to make such a special effort to entice other teams fans. Sadly I know these questions wont be answered as that would require you to actually think and also admit why you truly spend so much time writing about our great club. You may mock the leeds fans but it is for a reason. You know truly how passionate we feel about our club and THAT makes me proud. MOT forever.

  14. 14.12.... Millwall will never buy him back! Leeds will be still lumbered with the 20k next year...and that will be alot of money for a League one player!

  15. With respect, Morison can't be on 20k. Becchio was sold because Leeds wouldn't increase his 15k a week wages, so why would they take a higher paid player in return? If he is on 20k a week, Norwich must be funding a proportion of his wages.

  18. I think it is fair comment, Millwall are struggling. I think the important word you are missing is "Some" Leeds fans were praising Morison, But I do not think the handful of games he had were much to judge on. He has scored some spectacular goals in his time, football is all about opinions. I remember seeing the worst player I have ever seen in my life......big donkey, plank of wood, couldnt pass it two yards...ended up scoring the winner in the cup final !! (Andy Linighan) - so what do I know...

You seem passionate about your footie..so fair play to ya MOT

Just a shame I missed out on the superior southern up bringing and education. Better late than never tho. Give me that tub of bubbles!!!! You can have my seat at elland road!, I know you want it. 27. It's highly likely Morrison will b back at Elland road after his 12 month loan spell expires ... It's a pity we didn't let him go on a permanent bases...

    ReplyDelete
  28. I was happy when we swapped Becchio for Morrison largely coz Becchio had all but given up playing for Leeds and although Morrison's form has been poor he is still twice the footballer Becchio is in terms of technical ability. The big problem of course is that he despite that he hasn't the knack of scoring ugly goals that Becchio has made a career out of and his scoring touch has deserted him and there are rumours he is welsh. Maybe a spell at the only club that leaves a fouler taste in the mouth than west ham will nasty him up enough to play successfully for Leeds if, not we could sell him to West Ham, I mean Millwall, same difference, whatever.
