Dissent growing in the legions of Leeds United fans

It didn't take long did it? One bad result at home to Sheffield Wednesday, and suddenly there's a ruck on the Feel Good Factor Express and a group of moaning old codgers are demanding to get off at the next station - unless the Board stop taking the piss and start "speculating to accumulate".

Now, of course, when this is said in a Cockney voice everybody gets hot under the collar and, with fingers in their ears, scream, "Not listening. West Ham are shit anyway. Things are fine at Leeds, just leave us alone and let us listen to the happy mood music." Including a certain Rob Atkinson, an old adversary of the blog.

But strangely, the same Mr Atkinson is now saying what I have been saying for some time - namely that the new owners are still "taking the fans for mugs" and, for good measure, recognises that without positive steps and investment in the squad, Leeds could end up "perpetually moribund, like a bigger version of Preston or Huddersfield."

Now to be fair, the comments left on Mr Atkinson's article are mixed, but it seems that he is not alone in expressing grave concerns about what is still going on at Leeds. And if these voices of dissent can be heard now, when Leeds remain unbeaten, one can only imagine the level of protest come Christmas if Leeds are still in the mid table doldrums.

The Reverend McDermott is still singing from the carefully scripted hymn sheet but some in the choir are already beginning to lose faith in the message and are already breaking step despite the Marching on Together mantra. Three goals from three league games tells a story, and although many refuse to listen, some are waking up to the fact that although he is a nice guy, Brian is not a messiah and can't work miracles or turn ditch water into champagne.

It promises to be an interesting few months if Leeds don't significantly strengthen before the window closes.

  1. We only require 3 players. My guess is we get 2 of them this window and the remaining one in the next. That's not exactly the bad situation depicted in your article.

  2. I must agree. Things are really bad at Leeds. Four games unbeaten, an average gate of 28,500,the first 1 million player for many years,(More than Arsenal have spent) no Ken Bates, players not being sold-they don´t even want to leave.I´m sure you can find more Leeds fans around the world than all the London teams put together. Prove me wrong.

  4. Good morning petal, you calmed down yet? We all want gfh to invest money into the squad, for some reason you can't understand that you can't spend what you don't have!? We have a budget to work within and need to reduce our 15mil wage structure first or seek further investment which they are trying to do! You seem to be biting more and more, you need to chillax spam dangler!

  6. Up after midnight to post about leeds. Admit it you love the mighty whites really. And while i think its is sad that your blog gets more attention from leeds fans cuz lets be fair hammers news intrest only people over 70 who have no clue how to use the web and still cruise the weekend paper for a 20 word artical on ur boring team. Still your blog is more interesting than the football leeds have played for 2 years i shamefully admit.

  9. One article does not a whole set of fans unhappiness represent!
We have had a decade of trouble and true fans who actually attend games will see that this season is a vast improvement on anything we have seen in the championship for some time.
We are solid and have belief as a team, instead of the shambles we had under Warnock.
We understand that BM is still working to rid himself of his predecessors shit signings and that over the next few years he will build a team and a club that is capable of success.
I look forward to reading what you will have to say when this happens, what you will make up to hook in Leeds fans...
Why exactly are you obsessed with Leeds United?
Is it because you were dumped by a Leeds fan?
Is your life so sad and lonely that you spend hours writing about the whites and writing shite just to get some desperately needed attention?
I could recommend a could psychologist!
If you want to be taken seriously I suggest you stop writing the bollocks and actually do some real research and get yourself to a game!

  18. Look rigsby , you've had a family berevment , or at least that was you're latest excuse for not attending the west ham game on sat , by the way you must have a huge family because you didn't go at all last season , or the season before !!! Then again romanians are renowned for having big familys , anyway I digress , you've had a berevment but you are constantly on line , on this pathetic blog and reading all things Leeds , get a life you boring troll , talk to you're wife or kids , its pretty obvious the death hasn't affected you , you're just using it as another excuse for never going to a game ; but if it is as you claim true , it might be affecting them and you're not there , you're constantly in cyber space obsessed with all things Leeds

  19. I am still waiting for you to "adopt another club for a season" and leave us alone! Oh right, I get it you live for the attention that this site gives you and no other club in the championship and most of the clubs of premiership clubs would not give you this. I blame your mother for not giving you the attention you so obviously crave when you were younger. Have you tried therapy? Still suggest boro as your "next adopted club" as they are going to have a nightmare season and the fans are easier to wind up than the Leeds fans, believe it or not!!! Bore off

  20. Ex West Ham player Steve Lomas has taken Millwall to their worst start to a season since 1977. Are you too scared to write a load of bollocks about them? Come on Spammer, your excuses to start writing about us last season was through our links with Warnock, who unlike you, has since fooked off. You seem to avoid writing about them even though one of your ex players is their manager. I wonder why?

  21. For all the latest on the exploits of Old Big Gob, GianFredo Zola, Butterfingers Green, 'Arry the Albatross, The Grand Puppet Master, Il Duce Di Canio, Nice Guy Brian and a cast of thousands!......I won't mention another ex West Ham player in Steve Lomas and Millwalls worst start to a season since 1977 under him. I'll just throw in Nice guy Brian instead who has absolutely no affinity with West Ham whatsoever, because Leeds is 200 miles away and will give me blog hits, whereas Millwall will give me physical ones instead.

  26. Dr Weevil - you've never forgiven me for that "best ever article on this site" comment on the "Football Hate" piece I submitted, have you? You sensitive little soul, you. Enough with the Atkinson though - it's Mr Atkinson to you (or "Handsome" if that still floats your boat) - or I shall have to start calling you merely "Weevil".
