Leeds in classic case of the paedophile pot calling the Turkish kettle black!

Now I am not about to defend the chanting of the Millwall mongrels on Saturday, but it is a bit rich for LUST, or any body else that claims to represent Leeds fans, to complain to the police about unacceptable taunts from the terraces.

It is not so long ago, less than 12 months if my memory serves me correctly, that Sheffield Wednesday manager Dave Jones was provoked into calling Leeds fans, en masse, "vile animals" after a section of the away support subjected him to the most sickening paedophile abuse imaginable, in front of his grandson no less. When I expressed my disgust on this blog, far too many so called football supporters sought to justify the abuse, arguing that Jones was guilty of a crime that he never committed and justifying the indefensible by claiming it was just "banter".

Well now, it seems, the boot is on the other foot and LUST have suddenly come over all precious and politically correct, and like a Year 7 bully beaten up by Year 10 boys, have run crying to sir. Not only were the chants of the Millwall fans "distressing", they were also "alarming", which does make it sound as if Leeds louts were running scared of the big bad Millwall bull mastiffs.

So a complaint has been lodged with both the police and Millwall Football Club, which is more than a little rich given Old Big Gob Warnock applauded the away support at the Wednesday game, despite the abuse aimed at Jones, the support offered to Jimmy Savile and the assault on Wednesday keeper Chris Kirkland. What is good for the goose is clearly not good for the gander as far as LUST are concerned.

The huge irony is that, had the Football League acted on the call made by Jones for all Leeds fans to be banned from away games, none of the sensitive darlings would have been at the ground to hear the nasty chants of their Millwall tormentors.

Of course, an interesting footnote to the Istanbul episode is that the brother of one of the unfortunate victims has subsequently been charged for what was termed "an appalling explosion of violence” between rival supporters in Leeds city centre. It seems from this as if he was a little less respectful of his brother's memory than he should have been.

In summary, before the Leeds United Supporters Trust starts bleating about "unacceptable chants" from rival fans, the Leeds United fans have to put their own house in order. They could begin by supplying the names and addresses of all those who chanted abuse at Dave Jones and all those involved in the homophobic chanting at the Brighton game. Only then can their righteous indignation be taken seriously.

  1. You really have outdone yourself here mate....You think its wrong that Leeds fans get angry about hearing chants glorifying and revelling in the murder of 2 of their own ? Go to any football ground and you will hear dubious and moronic chants but you don't think a line has been crossed here ? Reading your ignorant bile here its as if the stabbing to death of two men ( because they were Leeds fans ?) is a simply by the by that we are over sensitive about ? You have completely lost the plot here mate....By the way I have also been to Millwall when these chants are taking place..And you know what ? A lot of it is done by those big brave dads ( 40+) with their 10 year olds in tow.Classy , classy people....

  3. You confuse me, you are capable of a reasonable level of journalism and though provoking blogs, but too often you resort to poorly written "Red Banner" sensationalist tripe. Firstly if you are pot and kettling then I think as a West Ham fan you need to think about getting your house in order regarding unacceptable chants or noises. However this has to stop through out football I think if you had a look at football in general and objectively discussed the matter of offensive chants rather than finger pointing you may gain more respect.

  4. I'm a lifelong Leeds fan and I've got to say, apart from the self riteous undertone I have to agree. To be honest I'm a little bit embarrassed.
Of course chanting of this type is unpalatable, but come on, Leeds fans complaining about other fans singing nasty songs at us...whatever next?
I have a better idea, just sing louder so nobody can hear it!

  5. Totally agree with you on this one

  6. Listen cockney boy.l.u.s.t was making the point that, before the game, millwall said they would throw anybody out,if any fans sang about instanbul, and police and stewards did fuck all as usual.the singing in sheffield was different.that was banter.we wernt singing about people getting murdered.

It seems a bit rich for Leeds fans to be complaining about other fans singing nasty songs at us, however unpalatable they might be...in fact I'm a little bit embarrassed.
Surely the best way to deal with chants like this is to simply sing louder.

  8. Brilliantly put. Now Leeds fans will be reported in this way by supporters trusts in EVERY away game they go to and some at their home games too, probably meaning an away match ban for all of them

  11. each incident is judged upon its individual merits.dave jones was right to complain.just like LUST are well within their rights to lodge a complaint here.
it is on the shoulders of the powers that be to give out punishments.

in regard to the istanbul victim's brother, none of us will know how his brothers death affected him mentally,so its best to just leave that one alone

there you go,discussion over.get to work on your next one...

  12. Not that I agree or disagree with the Dave Jones' chants, but at least he has cleared his name and survived another day, two poor lads and all there family were not so lucky! I find it disrespectful you using this as an excuse to post a blog to fuel ur own ego, rile fans and get hits! Not every Leeds fan condones what was said to Dave Jones and mayby lust disagree with it and want all things like that taken out of the game hence the complaint! Just a thought! Personally I don't give a toss about LUST, they always seem to stick there nose in where it's not always wanted!

  15. You are 'spot-on' about this HF. I could add to this the disgusting chants about Munich and also the chants at the time of the Yorkshire ripper, taunting the police with the latest total of his victims ie Ripper 11 Police nil.Not very funny if you was a close relative of the victims, some of those girls were innocent students.
Of course we must keep a sense of proportion. Most football fans are decent folks....but 2 wrongs don`t make a right, LUST have every right to complain. Each new case like this needs reporting and dealing with to "nip them in the bud"
Now I wait for the usual abuse from my fellow Leeds fans..
    You know the type of thing.."knobhead" "p***k, "c***"(1), "c***"(2). a*** licker.
    Freedom of speech..it`s a wonderful thing !

  17. I think any football fan should be banned for singing offensive chants..regardless of who he/she supports. In this case I agree with the comment by "White Army" (16.14) the police did issue a statement before the match that they would arrest people who sang offensive chants, and subsequently didn't carry that out.

    1. yes jack it would be so easy to pinpoint exactly who is singing and the police will be able to catch every single one who is singing abuse. that will work wont it? and the proof in court? "well your honour, im a constable and one Saturday, I heard many voices singing what I consider abuse. I couldn't say exactly who was singing as there were about 100 voices etc etc. yeah, that's gonna work as the 100 morons were among many thousands in the crowd. and the all important evidence? well your honour, his lips were moving. your right "jack" problem solved.

  19. Sorry you forget the part when Sheffield Wednesday fans were taunting us with vile Istanbul songs. As for Dave Jones calling for us all to be banned from away games, you seem to agree with this as you would not have mentioned it otherwise. You also failed to mention anything about West Ham taunting Spurs with Hitler chants and salutes last November and the FA not taking the matter any further. I do not see you asking for their names and addresses. It was simply another cheap and pathetic jab at Leeds United and that seems to be the only thing that keeps you going, it really is very sad!!!

  21. How many Leeds fans can remember standing on the terraces at ER singing to the Plod in the ground 'Barry Prudom is our friend, he shoots coppers...shoots the bastards one by one...shots the bastards in the head, etc' as the serial killer carried on his rampage in the 80s cos I do (although I was just a gullible teenager at the time) & I am sure will many others. Kettle, pot, grimey arse

Seriously, when did we all get so sensitive? Do we all drive home from the match in a Prius these days and knit yoghurt watching Match of the Day?
The stewards even make you sit down in the kop these days, like naughty boys who can't be trusted to stand up!
If we don't like the chants we're hearing then we sing louder and longer - don't we?

  28. We all know that Leeds fans are some of the disgusting piece's of turd lucky enough to be alive, I don't agree with chanting of any nature stated above. But this guy is right, end of the day Leeds had been guilty of offensive chanting. Whats the difference if it was about 2 murders or calling someone a peadophile when they have be found not guilty, which is worse? Difficult to say.

  30. Clearly they have made a rod for their own back, and every ground they ever visit now the fans groups will report them to the police possibly meaning an away game ban which would be a tragedy for the genuine leeds fans who want to support their team.

All teams have a section like this, looking at some of the comments and language on here, it seems some also read these blogs as they believe its ok to chant sick taunts to Dave jones, about jimmy saville, munich etc as thats just "banter".

Is It REALLY banter? No, its as bad as chanting about istanbul. But Leeds fans, clean your own up before complaining about others

    ReplyDelete
  31. I assume the Leeds Trust will also be reporting hundreds of their own supporters who were singing songs glorifying Jimmy Saville and what he did to kids.
