Sherwood should end the humiliation and walk out on Spurs now!

Poor Timmy. It seems as if the briefing against him has started already. The red tops are running stories today about Van Gaal joining after the World Cup, and there are suggestions that Levy is unhappy with Sherwood's "abrasive" style and his team selection.

None of this is a surprise, of course. Timmy and a few blinkered Spurs fans seem to be the only ones who can't see what is going on. With Spurs on the shoulder of Liverpool as we enter the final lap of the season, it was nothing short of incredible that Tottenham banked rather than spent money in the transfer window, with the decision not to replace Defoe bordering on the criminally incompetent.

Yes Adebayor is playing well at the moment, but how long will that last? The guy is moody and prone to idling when things go against him. Thus far, he has responded well to lippy Timmy, but that's because he was rotting in the stiffs until AVB was shown the door. But sooner or later, Sherwood will say something that Emmanuel does not like, and then all the commitment currently in his play will evaporate.

And meanwhile, asides from the penalty spot, Soldado looks as deadly in front of goal as Carlton Cole!

And Timmy's option? Young Kane.

As I blogged yesterday, this is not a squad capable of challenging for a top four finish and campaigning in the Your Ropey League - and Levy knows that. So the only explanation for Tottenham's inactivity in the window is that Sherwood is a caretaker with no access to the bank vault.

And the articles this morning confirm that. How else can you explain Van Gaal's comments when pressed on the matter of Tottenham? He as good as confirms that he is on his way when he says:

"Am I still in contact with Spurs? There will come a moment that I can talk about that. Look at my CV. I have won a trophy every season during my club career. I am a winner and craving a trophy. This is why I am sick of being a national coach. I only see the players eight times a year. I am not enjoying the job of national coach at all. After the World Cup I want to coach a big club again and win trophies. Otherwise I will retire."

Now his arrival will probably be very good news for Spurs fans, but where does this leave Timmy? Capoue has already slated him in the French media and claimed that the "English" don't understand European players. This should have triggered the Frenchman's exit in the January window - £8.5m was on offer - but Van Gaal probably rates him and has his own shortlist of players to be brought in this summer - including his preferred strikers.

So Timmy Time is ticking down and the poor sod is just minding the baby until Levy demotes him or shows him the door. What hope has the poor sod got if things start to go badly? The players will know what's going on. Bloody hell, you wouldn't put it past Levy to have a word with Capoue and say, "Just hang on in their son, Van Gaal rates you even though this clown doesn't".

It is all so undignified and if Timmy has any pride he should storm into Levy's office and tell him where to shove the caretaker's mop and broom!

    1. Clueless, no plan A let alone plan B. Get this big headed, outspoken non Pro-Licensed 'coach' out . We are supposed to be a top club yet we appoint a head coach that hasn't bothered to get his Pro License despite having been involved in coaching at this club for many years.I sincerely hope he is keeping the seat warm for Van Gaal !!

  4. So the Mirror article should be taken at face value? Not for me, I think Tim is right that he needs to make the CL to hold the job, but if he does then Levy will stick with him. I think also that Sherwood didn't want to add players for the sake of it, no point getting players that are not better than we have and how many players that actually moved were better. Berba may have been a good short term option but Tim seems happy that he can keep Ade focused, get Soldado back on form and bring Lamela into the mix, if he does he'll get the plaudits if he doesn't then he'll get the criticism. He's doing well, certainly not faultless but not many managers are. The papers will always try and stir things up just to make up column inches and usually with nothing more than an assumption, no real evidence. The fans though should be hoping for him to succeed, we all want CL football next season and he can deliver it

  5. agreed, he doesn't have a clue - he's got all the talent on the bench and he's not using it. His post match interview was awful. With a proper manager we would be flying.

  6. Anonymous - congratulations for the most pathetic comment ever. Sherwood has taken a group of players averaging well under a goal a game and more than doubled that by playing open expansive football. Bentaleb has been a crucial part of that by keeping the ball and moving it quickly. There is no evidence from his appearances that Capoue can do this as well as Bentaleb. Just because a stroppy foreigner who cannot get in the team under both managers starts spouting off, you believe that the manager is rubbish and this plodding midfielder is suddenly the answer. As for your childish suggestion that being an Arsenal fan means anything, you really are a sad little person. Primary school on Monday should liven you up.

    1. Bentaleb is doing WHAT??? Are high on cheap drugs or something??? Bentaleb is rubbish. NO cover for backline and always ready to pass the ball to the opposition. He is Tim's boy-crush, cos there's no other reason for him to be playing 90 min and have internationals on the bench. 90% pass rate, will 99% of that being back or sideways. NO my friend!!!! Bentaleb is one for the distant future

  8. Current selection is poor & in the game against Hull, Sherwood did not start the right team nor made the right substitutions. Best that Spurs Management dictates what needs to be done quickly with the right coach being appointed.

  10. You seem to speak English about as well as you understand fooball. As to the above article wow what insight ,just to rain on your day it appears Van Gaal is planning to retire at the end of this season,oh dear another day another crock of shit from a supposed Spurs fan.

  11. Spend the money? Who do you suggest we spend it on and who decides? We have already spent £100m on a bunch of squad players no better than the ones we shipped out and as for the "stars": Soldado £26m v Negredo £20m and Lamela £30m v Mata £37m who can say we've got good value. The worst signing of all? Baldini without a doubt.

  12. Spurs squad not capable of finishing in top 4?.. You're havin a laugh.. When the season started it was unanimously agreed upon that they had more depth than Livpool, Arsenal and United.. Spurs still have the same players if I remember correctly

  13. SHERWOOD IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH IF SPURS WANT TO PROGRESS NEED A TOP MANAGER, OR IF HAPPY MID TABLE THEN STICK WITH SHERWOOD IS SELF IMPORTANT ATTITUDE STINKS HE WILL SOON UPSET PLAYERS THEN WE WILL START TO SLIDE DOWN THE TABLE LEVY IS RIGHT GET A TOP COACH IN THE SUMMER

  14. So Jimmy its all Timmys blame, A true Spurs supporter AVB out, Timmy out. the next man out. The useless supporters should be managers, problem solved!

  15. Get Levy out for the love of God

    ReplyDelete
  16. Tim is out of his depth at this level. Baldini bought the players; how about him taking over the team because Tim is just prepared to play his Choir boys from the Academy. Tim is a development coach, not suitable for taking a team like Spurs to the Champions League. BTW, how did he get the job without a UEFA licence? That is why he is so pathetic,

  17. So Tim has lost one game and drawn two in the league. One loss to city. While I was surprised as us all aurely he deserves a chance? His record so far is good plus frankly who else was avaliable? We are not so attractive a prospect we can just get a top coach. Be realistic. Levy again has made a good decision in this long term rebuilding task.

    1. Long-term what? Building long term means...KEEPING YOUR TOP PLAYERS!!! Then you add quality and there is your long term plan coming together! Think again....DOES LEVY HAVE A LONG TERM PLAN? NO...what a twat

  19. I can't believe I'm reading that Sherwood is deliberately trying to undermine Spurs because he's an Arsenal fan. I also don't think much of the article as it's based pretty much entirely on supposition.

  20. Tim has the team playin worse than with avb. We looked a harder unit to beat wi avb.. who would match city 442 .. and hav a rooky vs toure in middle of park where games r won and lost .... come on now .. anybody could shift to 442 to get more goals .. its not rocket science is it thats wat I hate bout tim.. 451 vs swansea ..and 442 vs city say itall to me ....owl face tim u need to go blackburn and work ur way up... idiot

  21. dawson has been at the club for 12 years and we have achieved nothing. same this year, a shocking centre back who has a new 3 year contract.

    ReplyDelete
  22. with Dawson we are going nowhere fast, all our other backs are having to cover his spaces and Lloris is a sweeper keeper because there is a vast empty space in front of him
