White Noise From McDermott at Leeds

Another interview and still nothing conclusive. Nice Guy Brian is showing a straighter bat than a dug in Chris Tavare as he repeatedly sidesteps questions about squad reconstruction at Leeds.

The same "if we can bring in some quality" line used by the Warnock was again employed, and all Nice Guy Brian would say is that "obstacles" have to be removed.

Exactly what these obstacles are is anybody's guess. It all seems to be about mood, and team spirit and positive attitudes, but as the defeat at Birmingham showed, positive thoughts can only take you so far. If the players are not good enough, you can be as upbeat as you like and it aint going to make any difference.

The cold, stark fact is that, after bottom of the table Bristol City, Leeds have the worst away record in the division. That is shameful, and it is something that, based on his one away game so far, NGB is no closer to rectifying.

    1. Didn't you know? HF taught Jimmy everything he knew. That's how HF first caught the cancer. Die HF.

  7. No hf Wot is shameful is your obsession with a club you don't support!

  8. I'm sick to death of this. McDermott has had plenty of time to sort this appalling away record and is no closer to it. The players he has brought in have made absolutely no difference whatsoever.

NGB should be sacked immediately and I will be protesting for this at the next home game.

  9. Drop the NGB gag, it doesn't work. Go back to banging on about KFC buckets if you must. But write something original, funny or nothing at all.

Shame on you commenter's for the Cancer jibes, we all know hf is a knob but there are numerous other insults you can throw at him.

Let's hope Warnock finds another club soon, so he can annoy their fans.

  10. Surely the correct straight bat analogy for Yorkshire's No.1 team would be big gob Boycott not Chris Tavare? That aside this end of season loss is nothing to get excited about, the real work starts over the summer and Brian McD has already started - the players and fans like what they are hearing and he is attempting to get all at the club pulling in the same direction which hasn't happened for a decade now. If he does this he will start the juggernaut that is Leeds Utd rolling and it will gain an almost unstoppable momentum sweeping middling clubs like your West Ham aside. On a personal note HF, I know Mr. Warnock has fecked off to Cornwall to play with his sand castles leaving you less material but can you stop trying to be a serious football blogger and get back to the wind ups - you were much more entertaining.

    1. True. But I like Boycott and he wasn't as negative as some suggest. He played each ball on its merits. Tavare offered a defensive bat to a long hop!

  12. blah blah blah, we are safe, we did not achieve promotion, new term, new manager and a close season of ifs and buts to consider.

Wet spam have had the same sort of season, football is relevant to the level your playing at and the players you can afford.

but you are still a little man who states the obvious so just shut it until next season eh, then we can all abuse you some more so see you next tuesday as such

  13. Just having a look out of curiosity of your blog for the first time and noticed that all your articles relate to your hate of sheff utd, Leeds, Watford and QPR. Is that what your site is all about - a wind up. If so you are sad in the extreme. Man Utd Fan.

  15. Does anyone think or know if the men in black actually exist? You know? Those men who would supposedly knock on your door if you reported a ufo? The Stranglers had a bit of an obsession about them for a while. Perhaps you've had a visit yourself? Let me know, also do fly tippers have their own patron saint?

  16. What on earth are yopu expecting Brian Mac to say. Do you expect a press conference with him reading out a list of targets for next season. No manager does that. You really are very naive.
    Heres a thought for you.
I'll give you £10 for every manager that has listed his summer transfer targets this week if you will give me 50p for every one that hasn't

  18. enough with the cancer stuff. It's not been an entertaining season (the football that is) but i've enjoyed the wind-ups (Hf). If cancer jibs are the best some of you can do I guess you too must be season ticket holders and have caused yourselves damage bashing your heads against an ER brick wall - I wear a crash helmet but it's only made it slightly less painful. Let's hope NGB can bring back some entertainment at least.

  19. It makes sense now why Di Canio enjoyed his time at West Ham, him being a fascist, and West Ham Being a hotbed of Jew Hating Nazism.

    Did you hiss Hammersfan?

    1. OK, let's now address this one. Try following this link:

      http://thegamesgonecrazy.blogspot.ro/2010/01/will-gold-deal-with-our-racist-morons.html

In case you can't be bothered, here's what it says in full:

Interesting to read Gold's comments on how he was bullied as a child because he is Jewish. He is quoted as saying,

"If being poor wasn't enough I had to put up with all the taunts of being a Jewish boy."

"As kids we were spat at because our name was Gold. That's short for Goldstein. The perception was, from the kids via their parents, that it was the Jews' fault for this, the Jews' fault for that. The Jews had taken jobs, the Jews were misers."

"Kids in school were cruel. But after the war when people started to realise about the Holocaust perception started to change."

Presumably, that means he will have zero tolerance for the foul abuse directed at Tottenham fans when the two clubs meet. I have used this blog before to decry the hissing sound used to simulate the sound of the gas chambers which some sections of our fan base find amusing. I hope Gold comes out and states clearly that this will no longer be tolerated. Any fan identified as participating should receive a life ban. Come on David, make a stand for decency!

    2. and how about this posted after that shameful Millwall game?

It wasn't the club, it was the fans; it's not a football issue, it's a problem in society; what about the policing?; the main violence was outside the ground; the Millwall fans were to blame.

All of these points will be made, all of these excuses will be given, but at the end of the day, none of it washes. The scenes IN and AROUND Upton Park last night were truly disgraceful and action has to be taken or there is a real danger that "fans" of other clubs will watch the news footage and fancy a bit of it themselves. How many idiots around the country will watch "Green Street" and other films glorifying football violence and think, "We should have a 'firm'!"? What if it kicks off at the Emirates tonight with Celtic fans deciding to exit the Champions League in a trail of destruction?

The hard truth is that this was inevitable: inevitable because it was Millwall but more importantly because, for too long, the club have tolerated the intolerable. I have used this blog to condemn the hissing employed (in games against Tottenham) to simulate the sound of the gas chambers; and I invited the usual threats of violence from the thugs when I spoke against against the abuse of Lampard and Terry. But what action has the club taken exactly? It is now so easy to identify the culprits with numbered seats and CCTV. Why are the guys who participate in this abhorrent behaviour allowed to return to the ground? We hear mantras like "Kick Racism Out Of Football" yet we allow a section of our fan base to "joke about" the extermination of nearly six million people based on their race and religion. If you accept the unacceptable, something awful will happen sooner or later. Last night has been coming.

The club should now take the moral high ground and hurt the idiots where it hurts most. We should resign our position in the Carling Cup and ask that Millwall be allowed to take our place. Like that, we will distance ourselves absolutely from the disgraceful behaviour that otherwise will be associated with the club. Every effort should then be made to identify the idiots responsible last night and to ban them for life. And we should not stop there. The hissing should be stopped. The abuse of individuals should be stopped.

We must clean up our act and bowing out of the Cup, unfortunately, would be the right first step. It is time for action, not words.
