Well that's some statement! On the basis of 3 goals in 15 games, Watford have given a contract of 5.5 yeares to striker Fernando Forestieri. The Argentine is said to be delighted, and who can blame him? That is one hell of a contract for somebody who has not pulled up a forest of trees yet in the English game.
Zola should know better. A certain Herito Ilunga did enough at West Ham to earn a permanent contract whilst on loan, but once it was secured, he couldn't be arsed!
That said, this is exactly what was promised when a flood of players arrived at Watford on loan from Udinese. And with the Hornets buzzing merrily in a playoff place, you won't find many Watford fans complaining at the moment!
Have you seen him play?
ReplyDeleteI've seen this guy play. If he adds more goals to his game he'll be worth tens of millions. Even without the goals he's a class act who'll weigh in with loads of assists. The fans love him!
Deleteer ... Zola is 1st team trainer, he doesn't do contracts. For that speak to old man Pozzo, he seems to know what he is doing. Fernando Forestieri has a good ring to it don't you think?
ReplyDeleteI hear WHU are chasing Matej Vydra, Udinese probably want £10-15m so have fun.
This kid is regarded as a junior Messi in Italy, by those who have a better understanding of the game than either you or I, my friend. The Pozzo's have a proven track record of tying up players on long-term deals. Why? Because it creates stability within a club, and sends out a note to other clubs of how much youth and desire is rated at Watford. Similar things have happened recently with key academy graduates. Our owners lock down their assets... which is why blinkered clubs like West Ham and Southampton sniffing around Vydra, and offering insulting bids, need to get real. Forestieri is green behind the ears, but has true class. He's not an out and out striker so his goal record means nothing.
ReplyDeleteIn addition, at least half the curent Watford team could walk into the Premiership. Our downfall in recent times has been our team was just not good enough for top flight football. This one largely is.
Quote from a Huddersfield fan
ReplyDelete"What a player. Wouldn't look out of place partnering Cassano or Balotelli in the national team. As Joe says ran past players with complete ease. Will be watching out for him."
3 Days since this was announced and that's the best you can come up with. You really do give trolls a bad name.
ReplyDeleteHaving read your blog a few times this season,it seems like you are waiting for GFZ to fail? I hope I'm wrong.
ReplyDeleteHe is not nicknamed Fessi for nothing. In any case, if we determine he isn't cutting it, we just loan him to one of our sister clubs!!
ReplyDeleteOf course he hasn't. If he had he would congratulate us on a fantastic bit of business.
ReplyDeleteHe's much more than a 3 in 15 player.. ask any team he's played against.
ReplyDeleteYou're absolutely right. There's no way this guy should have been given this kind of contract. A striker, 3? From 15? Madness. If I were you, or any Premiere league fan for that matter, I wouldn't bother wasting any more time looking at him. Let mad old Watford, useless old Zola and all these mercenary loan rangers of theirs get on with it, they're of no interest to the likes of you at your high standard. Let them suffer the consequences. The fools!
ReplyDeleteYou're absolutely right. Silly, mad, little Watford. Useless, little Zola. Why would they give a 5.5 year contract to a striker who can't hit barn door? Best let them and their loan rangers get on with it. They're of no interest to Premiere league clubs, these mercenaries couldn't hack it at that super high standard. Best move along and leave them to it. What fools they are!
ReplyDeleteThis post is clearly written by someone that has no football knowledge and someone that has not watched Watford live this season.
ReplyDeleteGotta love the delusional Watford fans... such a laugh thinking that their little club is world class premiership standard on the back of an influx of second rate 'never heard of'Italian players.
ReplyDeleteor should we all go on YouTube and witness the 30 seconds of skill each of them have produced in their entire career?
As we all well know, just because theyre Italian, Argentinian or Brazilian, doesnt make them world class FFS.
hilarious...
ROFL!! I love people who have no idea of what is actually happening, maybe read up on the Pozzo family and the structure that they place into the clubs that they own. Look at the signings that they have made at Udinese little unheard of players that are now playing at Barcelona etc... Research before you post such utter rubbish.
DeleteYea just looked at your team - WEST HAM? Should be WEST WHOM?
DeleteGotta love the delusional fans... such a laugh thinking that they know evrything when in reality they know f all about Watford!
Deletehilarious...
My lord. You guys give me a headache.
ReplyDeleteAbdi, Vydra and Forestieri are the most skilful players to have graced Vicarage Rd since John Barnes.
ReplyDeleteThey are a joy to watch and we play great football.
And we still have more home grown players in our team than most Championship and Premier League teams.
I assume you are either a racist West Ham fan or even worse a Blue Square Scummer.
Gotta love Luton Fan above - his team is so shite, nobody even feels inclined to pass comment on them anymore. What division are you in now?
ReplyDeleteDelusional Watford fans? How about delusional Leeds, Birminghan, Leicester....and so on fans? It's almost a compliment that people are noticing us and feel a need to criticise us. It can only be jealousy else why bother comment?
ReplyDeleteYou are probably right though we do seem to have a few current and ex internationals amongst our loans, albeit from tiny little backwater nations like Spain, Italy, Czech republic, Switzerland, Belgium etc. and of course not all of them have Champions league experience either so hardly surprising you don't know them.
ReplyDeleteBut if you are really so hung up about watching World class players then why are you still in Britain?
All players signed are a risk potentially...
ReplyDeleteI can only conclude the likes of Pete Baker have a very low IQ - thre can be no other explanation for the remarks - clearly they have seen this guy play
ReplyDeleteCertainly wouldn't suit balls banged up at head height big Sam style...hoof!
ReplyDeleteAs a Watford fan I can honestly say I am disgusted with the new regime.I would rather we would splash the cash on world class players such as Savio Nsereko.
ReplyDeleteYou keep playing that hoofball WHU. Entertaining!!
ReplyDeleteWell, I would not swap/part exchange foresteiri for a current West Ham striker, one Carlton Cole. for the record (wiki) 56 goals in 205 apps (about 4 to 1) for West Ham and overall 298/73, about 5 to 1. Hardly a more prolific/outstanding record over a longer term for a premiership striker. For pure entertainment, there is only one winner. The goals and assists will only increase
ReplyDeleteGreat to see that banter still exists in football. As for the Hammers...will never forget that lovely day I had the shit kicked out of me by some of their 'fans' for daring to walk outside Vicarage Road with my black girlfriend. 30 years ago.
ReplyDelete^^^^
ReplyDeleteSomeones just jealous
Gotta Love this Wet Spam's blogs, why give this clueless idiot anytime.FF is a quality player, not a striker but plays behind the top 2 or out wide..Zola has us playing exciting attacking football that is being noticed and praised by many.Better than watching Can't Control(carlton cole) up front having his head blown off by route one sh!t.Your so crap you had to resign an old player. When Hippy gets back you can aim more high balls towards him.
