McCormack to follow McDermott out of Leeds but hopefully not to West Ham

As sure as night follows day, so the man made captain of Leeds looks certain to follow his mentor, Nice Guy Brian, out of Leeds. Recreated by McDermott into a goal poaching striker, the Scot is, unsurprisingly, unhappy at the treatment of his father figure and, like Lampard who followed 'Arry out of West Ham, wants away. Well, after topping the goal scoring charts last season, why would he want to hang around for an impending battle against relegation regardless?

Mind you, as a West Ham fan, I hope he finds a different home than Upon Park. Ross may relish the opportunity of playing in the Prem but it is questionable whether he has the ability to deliver on the top stage. Dear God, he's not even been able to establish himself as a fixture in the Scotland team.

£8 million is far too much to speculate on a guy who is now in his later twenties and who, until last season, never suggested that he was anything other than a run of the mill Championship player. Rhodes has done it consistently for much longer and looks the better bet to me.

Gold and Sullivan should check out Becchio's record at Norwich before they rush in with big bucks! The gulf between Championship and Premiership is huge - and the transition is especially hard for strikers.

  1. Ross is a bit brighter than Becchio. He wouldn't consider joining a Team of perpetual strugglers like West Ham. Only an ambitious Premiership Team would tempt him away.
Joining West Ham would probably see him back in the Championship after a season like his mates Snoddy and Howson.

  2. £8 million is definately too much for him, but he has established himself as a top scorer in a decent league, that has got to count for something? Compared to Zarate he is a much better attacking option! He acctually plays for his national team, he scored more goals and he came from a more recognized devision.. Personally I think we should of signed him over Zarate

  3. Not sure that McCormack would adapt to Allardyce's hoofball. I'm sure he will aim higher if he leaves the mighty whites

  8. interesting that people seem to think that joining west ham would be a perpetual relegation battle for a player who's plied his trade all his life in lower divisions. We may have yo-yo'd in the past but the clubs far more stable now. If those comments are from leeds fans, for who relegation/promotion must seem the norm I'm stunned

Before you say West Ham aren't good enough for a player whos never been proven in the top flight just remember while the Hammers are worrying how to beat Man city, you'll be worrying how to beat Huddersfield!

  20. "Marciare mattere insieme" which as all waste am supporters know means "marching on together" in Italian. Thank you all and hope you enjoy the world cup- can't imagine there are many leeds or west ham players on show there so why dont you just be realistic, man up, and enjoy football for what it is - a beautiful game supported by tribes of morons.
