Leicester Planning for Immediate Return to the Championship?

It probably makes sense given the squad's limitations, but it's rare for a club to come out and announce that they expect to go straight back down following promotion. But how else can you interpret the decision to sign Matty Upson?

Dear God, the guy was past it in his final season at Upton Park so unless he has found a way of reversing the ageing process, he's going to be as much use in the Prem as a eunuch with a blistered tongue at an orgy!

Slow, injury prone, uncommitted in the challenge, a poor passer and 35 years of age - it's a recipe for disaster at the highest level. Still, when you look at the rest of the Leicester squad, Matty will fit in nicely!

What price are Leicester to be relegated? It must be a good bet!

  2. Perhaps he might play better at a club where he actually gets to pass the football rather than hoofing it hopefully in the general direction of the bigan up front, as West Ham tend to do.

  3. Are you a Derby fan who's jealous of the East Midland's best team?

  4. You really have no idea do you? Perhaps you're a jealous Derby fan?

  5. HAHA you sound like a bitter forest fan to me. Do you have no clue about football or something??

  6. What an impressive piece of inaccurate and short sighted writing, obviously written by someone who has knowledge of neither Upson nor Leicester City. The writer manages to waste a whole seven sentences when 'I don't know about football' would have easily sufficed.
Matt Upson may have had a bad season last time you saw him in a West Ham shirt, but was in fact Brighton's player of the season last year in a relatively successful season in what was a very competitive league. Arguably, with many poor sides in an untypical low scoring premier league last year, any of Derby, Brighton, Wigan etc would have been as at home in the premiership as perennial strugglers West Ham whilst they fell short in the more competitive championship. That Leicester have decided to bring Upson in as cover for their first choice players, hardly means that he will 'fit in' with an aging squad who despite containing a few older heads (Nugent, Morgan, Konchesky) actually boast a wealth of younger talent (Drinkwater, James, Moore, Mahrez, Knockeart, Barmby, Schmeichel, King) most of which have come through the top academies in the Premiership to be involved in successive seasons at the top of the championship. Please feel free to place your bet on Leicester being relegated but as we already have more strength in depth than the Hammers and as the owners have confirmed we have plenty of money to spend on both new signings and improving the stadium, I may chance the opposite bet. Another injury plagued season looms for West Ham with Andy Carrol likely to play less often than our new acquisition Upson and with delusional fans seemingly always on Allerdyces back despite his lack of budget and the lack of interest from top players to move to Upton Park. If I was a hammers fan, I think I would be far more focused on how they can survive another challenging season rather than scoffing at the moves of an opponent to strengthen an already competitive squad.

    1. Retard! Schmeichel is 27 nearly 28, Drinkwater and Knockaert are shit! So are Moore and Mahrez, no way are they premier league quality and before you say anything I'm an Everton fan who's from Leicester. Good luck LCFC anyways no intentions to offend any of you with this :)

    2. No intentions to offend? Starting a statement with "Retard!". Not sure how that is anything but offensive.

      27 isn't old for a keeper.

Drinkwater was voted third best player in the Championship.

Moore has been consistently playing for the U21s.

Mahrez is in Brazil for the World Cup.

  8. If being crap for West Ham was something to worry about then loads of ex--hammers would be better off hanging their boots up - truth is, he's proven elsewhere and should be good enough to provide the cover he's been brought in to provide.

Apart from the fact Leicester play quick tempo football with fast players, have a low injury list, have committed tacklers in midfield and defence, some of the best passers in the Championship and an average squad age around the mid-20s, this is spot on.

  12. I love how some football fans think they are so clever but in actual fact don't have a clue about the game. I had to laugh at the person writing this post.. Clueless! hahaha well done!

Calm down, calm down. Let's not all get so defensive about our new defender. Matt Upson is veteran status and a bit slow out of the blocks, but we have been vulnerable at set pieces and he is tall, although he doesn't jump so well now and will be useful for his experience alongside Liam Moore. So as was quite rightly pointed out to the hammer toed plonker from West 'Ammm, we have got youth and pace through out the team and he is only cover, cup ties etc. And while I trust NP and SW to make some sound signings, didn't we not so long ago buy one Zoumana Bakayogo who couldn't adjust to the step up from league one.

  14. It was a comment to wind up Leicester Fans. Thats all.

  15. As a Hammers fan, you have absolutely right to criticise other peoples' clubs wen yours aren't too well yourselves.

102 points says it all, so shut your trap and stick to what you actually know.

  17. Fair enough.

Now put your money where your mouth is and put everything you own on a bet that Leicester will be relegated next season. Then publish the betting slip here.

    No? Thought so.

  18. The transfer window hasn't even opened this summer and you're basing your opinion on that... shows how much of an ignorant fool you are when it comes to football!

  20. Fed up with Leeds Utd so starting to have a pop at us now, must admit i'm surprised at the signing of Upson but can't really see him getting a game to be honest.

  21. Were you a Cov fan when they had a local club?

  22. Nonsense. Utter nonsense. One signing (who isn't guaranteed to be a starter) and you're writing us off because of it? I didn't see West Ham come anywhere near getting 102 points when they were in the Championship. Write us off at your own peril.

  23. So West Hams trophy signing this summer is set to be.....wait for it.....Emile Hesky!!! If Leicester are aiming for relegation then West Spam are surely setting their sights on non league football!! hahahahahahahaha losers!!
