Lallana Betrays Southampton Fans As He Eyes Tottenham Move

How sad. We all knew that the baby rats would follow Daddy Rat Pochettino out of Southampton, but it leaves a disgusting taste in the mouth when a player turned into a star by a club then betrays the fans of that club by slapping in a transfer request.

We have been through it at West Ham, and Judas Defoe will never be forgiven for slapping in a transfer request the day after we were relegated. But Lallana doesn't even have that excuse! Southampton are - for the time being - still a Premiership club and the fans have been brilliant, paying good money to back the team even when the club was in the old Third Division with a then unrecognised Lallana in the side.

The club were going to sell him anyway, so Lallana could have shown some respect to the fans by biding his time. Instead, he has kicked those who idolised him most in the bollocks and stripped Southampton fans of any pleasure they may have gained from watching him in the World Cup.

The transfer request is cruel and heartless and Lallana should be ashamed. He shouldn't be thinking of where he will be plying his trade next season anyway, he should be totally focused on helping England to win the World Cup. Just imagine for a moment the pride the fans of Southampton would have felt had Lallana, Shaw and Lambert done a Moore, Hurst and Peters; now any World Cup glory will be bitter sweet in deepest Hampshire.

Shame on you Lallana: the club may not deserve loyalty and respect after sacking Pochettino's predecessor, but the fans deserved better!

  1. The article demonstrates a poor understanding of how players contracts works. By handing in a transfer request, the club avoids fan vilification for "letting him leave" whilst at the same time in handing in said request, the player forgoes all loyalty bonuses, to which he we otherwise be entitled. These fees can amount to a significant proportion of the transfer fee, By handing in a transfer request the player allows the club to save face and to get more money for the player.

  2. Fair play you Hammers.
We all knew Lallana was going, and probably Shaw too - we kind of accepted the fact, but this transfer request has really left a nasty taste in the mouths of most Saints fans.
Liverpool's role in this isn't much better by issuing Southampton an ultimatum of a take it or leave it offer of £25 million - of course Lallana was gonna panic thinking he may not get his move. Can't see him going to Spuds, even if Judas Pochettino tries to cast his spell.
I'm sure you feel the same as us - if you're not one of the big 6 in the league, the playing field is far from fuckin' level !!!!

  3. Ha ha jealous wet spammer! Your poor club can only dream of players of his calibre!

  4. Why on earth shouldn't Lallana want to go to a better club? Your article reeks of bitterness. Perhaps you are jealous that he may go to Spurs rather than West Ham? I'm sure West Ham have benefited from players deciding to leave their clubs for the bright lights of the big city. Why should Lallana bide his time? It's more honest for him to say straightaway that he wants out.

  5. "he should be totally focussed on helping England win the world cup" We are there to make up the numbers and are absolutely NO chance of winning the bloody thing. We'll be lucky to get through the group stages. No wonder his mind is on the future

  6. What a lot of shit, he wanted out a year ago, but stayed an extra year on understanding he moved to Liverpool thus drummer. The club got greedy, said no to the offer and he's now righty pissed off.

  7. Small clubs like Southampton and West Ham will always have these problems as not only do they not win anything, they aren't even in with a shout! You can't blame Lallana for wanting glory in his career, although as mentioned the timing is poor and lacks respect. Such is the way of the world, but such small teams can always pray for a decent find in the volumes of poor players they take off the 'nowhere near good enough' pile of bigger clubs; Carroll for instance.

  8. We all hurt when a legend or top professional player of our club puts in a transfer request or wants to leave but this is football, i am a Spurs fan so i know all too well how bad it can be to see your best players want to leave for another club, it turns the stomach and hurts, i have been there with the likes of Bale, Modric, etc, it hurts so much because we love our clubs so much! keep faith you have got a great youth set up that constantly produces great talent! it is probably the best in the country judging by previous players that have come through! look at Bale now!

  9. Lame rant. Cruel? Heartless? It's business. Every business has to balance the needs of customers (fans), shareholders (owners) and employees (themselves.) To get emotionally involved shows your naivety.

  12. Spurs? I think you got that wrong mate. Spurs had no intention of signing Llallana, not for £30mil anyways, nor £25mil.

The media just sling any players to Spurs because they buy a lot of players but in reality 90% linked players to Spurs do not end up at Spurs.

The likeliest club would be Liverpool, so perhaps swapping Spurs with Liverpool to your heading. Read SkySports and you'll see Spurs had no intention of signing Llallana unlike Liverpool.

  13. As a Spurs fan I'd be happier if Lallana stayed at St Marys - not because he isn't a great player though. We're going to end up like La Liga where only two teams can win - well done Atletico but when was the previous time "the two" lost?

A competition with all teams able to compete on equal footing will make it a better competition.

  14. I do understand! we had the same problem with Berbatov, Carrick, Modric and Bale but hey ho you have to get used to players doing this as there is no loyalty anymore it's all about fame and fortune, players are'nt willing to stay at a club and help to build anymore that's why I admire players like Gerrard who will probably never win a league title.

In this case, Llana follows his coach and mentor.

  18. Nonsense. The likely scenario is that bids have been made but Southampton value him too highly. Putting in a transfer request merely makes the price settle at the true value. You said yourself the club is going to sell him anyway so that shows no loyalty to him - why should he be loyal to the club if they want to cash in on him? Unfortunately the fans suffer, but it is naive to blame him.

  19. What a piss poor article, A immature little Spammers fan still sour over Defoe leavin a club going absolutely no where, players come n go, players move on to bigger n better things, ask any Spurs fan about Sol Campbell, Carrick, Berbatov, Modric n Bale, maybe Lallana is fed up being a Scummer. Your article is also incorrect as Spurs have said they have no intention of buying Lallana your just a bitter Spammer blaming others for your own short comings, your a complete joke

  20. You might have won the treble but your still a mob of gipos!

  21. For all we know, we could be facing the same scenario, in the near future, with Vertonghen and Lloris. We've seen it all before, of course, with Carrick, Berbatov, Modric and Bale - at least three of those sulked and left a bad taste around the changing rooms. If Lallana does the same, the rest of the team will be better off without him. Fabregas left the gooners without even saying "goodbye". Players (possibly egged on by their agents) don't seem to want to honour contracts with clubs any more than Chairman pretend to honour contracts with Managers. Mind you, if everyone held to their contractual obligations, the transfer market would probably collapse.

  22. Sad Hammer using the transfer saga of a player to have a pop at Spurs; and if it's not, why mention us in the title. Go enjoy your unprecidented treble, loser!

  23. As a spurs fan of course I'd like to see some ofvthe best players come to us but I do sympathise with saints, they always seem to get raided and spurs do seem to like doing it, first the manager who has got them playing well enough to improve a lot next season and now we talk about taking arguably their most creative player which incidentally we have too many players of the same type as good as he is. How much did we hate it when campbell went or berbatov, modric, carrick, bale. How must their fans feel. I think the manager is enough, can we have Rodrigues though! As for West ham--- come on you had been relegated and Defoe is not a championship player far too good for that, what would most of you had done....honestly...

  24. Would it not be fair to say that the young man is looking out for an opportunity to better himselt, his talents and his career. Who's to say where he will end up playing......Liverpool, Spurs or whoever but it would seem obvious that Southampton will suffer from the change in squad and management this coming season( maybe even face a relegation challenge!!) He's not going to Madrid.....yet......but he will be showcased a hell of a lot more playing for Liverpool or Spurs or whoever than a struggling Southampton that is sure to be the case this coming season. Focus on whats real my good man.......THE SHIP IS SINKING...... Coys!!!!
