Former West Ham Boss Redknapp Calls Leeds History

Charming. Leeds fans got terribly excited when QPR's old codger 'Arry found his way to the press room and remembered the names of a few football clubs currently condemned to the Championship. Like a contestant on a quiz show challenged to name ten teams in the second tier of English football, 'Arry started with the big ones - Derby and Nottingham Forest and then, with the great Brian Clough clearly in mind, he stumbled upon Leeds United.

But listen to him closely and 'Arry dismisses the club as "history", when he says, "Leeds United – one of the great football clubs in history in my opinion."

Ouch! Like Lithuania once had a kingdom stretching across Northern Central Europe, and Steps once dominated the UK charts, and Yorkshire once were a power in English County Cricket, Leeds United were once one of the great football clubs but, as 'Arry says, that's "history".

Still, credit where credit is due, and Leeds fans get very excited about the smallest of things these days. - and to have a former West Ham manager mention their team is a huge honour. After all, 'Arry did play in claret and blue with the three guys who won the World Cup for England!

  2. History also shows one of the greatest CB ever graced the 1966 world cup final. Jack Charlton, Rednapp gave us Credit as historically being one of the greatest teams in English football. Because he is intelligent , were as you are as thick as what comes out of a pigs rear.

    1. glad you are still researching Leeds and its glory

Harry was being a decent person, that's why he is well liked in the game, and why everyone thinks you are a twonk!

Would WH ever be called one of the greatest clubs in history?
maybe one of the greatest clubs who never won anything..

Like our other Leeds loving west ham good guy Bobby Moore..."I hoped that WH would go on an dominate the game the way Leeds did"....thanks bob, thanks arry.....
      wrong again HF !

  3. Leeds Utd & Nottingham Forest have had more glorious success & history than West Ham could ever dream of, hence the constant attention he gives Leeds! What have West Ham ever won??? Hence the Jealousy! They've even been given a stadium that they don't deserve!!!

  4. bet you wish west ham had a third of the history of leeds united, thats why were still talked habout. you can keep thinking up your childish digs at anything leeds united but a club is judged on what it has achieved from its beginning and leeds are well up there with the best of them, cant say that about west ham though, shame that........ mot.

  5. Hey, we will all go to bed tonight and when we get up in the morning 'we' will still be Leeds United and you will still 'only' be West Ham. Learn to live with it and move on.
Clearly there are not enough WHUFC followers on the net to stroke your ego hence the constant flow of LUFC posts. Bigger club bigger following. Keep em coming!

  6. “Leeds United – one of the great football clubs in history in my opinion. They had one of the finest teams I’ve seen in my life"

how you managed to turn this into a negative, and why? is a mystery to us all?

  7. HR said Team not Club (and they were a fantastic team), you can take what you want from these comments but one of your best ex-managers has said our team were a great team so that will do for me.The team were in the top four for ten years, unlike your club we have won the top domestic competition three times, how many times have you won the top league? correct me if I am wrong but is it never.

  11. i know that when you read the statement from harry today(after everyone else as usual)you thought 'shit' cos twice this season you have been made to look a fool.warnock rejects west ham to play for the mighty leeds united in the division below and now the greatest manager in west hams illustrious history(lol) admits that leeds are/were a massive club, not only that he praises that brilliant leeds team from the 60s/70s that you have slated on here loads of times.

i found it hilarious mate! i hope it ruined that fake holiday youre on! hahaha

  12. Although obviously, even with your numerous and as-of-yet unsolvable problems, you can see that he didn't mean what he said in the way that you have bastardised it.

Yet, I must congratulate you on making me laugh at least four times a day when you write about Leeds.

    1. I'm not on holiday, I'm on a mission to improve literacy. It is "OUR", not "ARE" you buffoon! And what on earth do you mean by "an intangible parade"? You can't just string random words together in the hope of making sense!

    2. what a shit response from you hf.its cos you dont have a real answer, why are you wasting your time on your laptop blogging about a yorkshire team??even worse, youre supposedly on holiday!!

      very strange behaviour

    3. You are something of a paradox aren't you HF. I say this because you are quick to mock others in regard to their literacy yet you make massive blunders yourself.

For example one of your recent posts in reference to the Luis Suarez biting incident where you stated that Suarez played for QPR twice in the same sentence. You were quite rightly ridiculed by others as a consequence of this to which you never responded.

Instead you rectified this howler as if it never happened.

I should attribute such a lapse due to the luxurious and lavish life you live in Bucharest. Those leisurely strolls through Titan Park in such a tropical climate must take it out of you though.

At least you can get away to somewhere cooler perhaps, like Sicily. It might be a good idea to drink some Peroni with your imaginary wife whilst watching the tourists go by.

When you return back home you could even stroll down to the local casino which is pittance to enter. Whilst inside you could have yourself a feast prepared by a Michelin star chef, consisting of only the finest ingredients of course.

Then to wrap up the evening you could have a few beers to wash all that food down whilst admiring all the beautiful and stunning women. Every female would of course be amazing in this idealogical world of yours.

The next day whilst you are lonely yet again you could consult your very own Leeds United think tank. As you do this your imaginary, size 8 wife could spread honey onto bread for you as she heaps praise upon your genius journalism abilities. Or then again someone could just pinch you and wake you up from the fantasy world you seem to live in.

  25. Far better to have lived and loved then never have loved at all.

Being a Leeds fan is never dull. We've had bigger ups than most and bigger downs than many. It's a roller coaster and that makes it interesting. Far better that than cruising around in the lower half of the top division ad infinitum.

So, Harry was right, but as night follows day, we will be back and when we are we'll burst through the doors cause the rest of the league to league to take notice ....it's in our DNA a bit like mediochrity is in West Ham's.

Big, relevant clubs get trolled by followers of dull, irrelevant ones. You contradict yourself the second you touch those keys HF. x

  34. If you dont have history you have nout. History is a huge part of every football club. Be it good or bad. This is how we learn in life. We try not to repeat the bad things. We try to learn from them. You really should have gone to school . Education is a good thing. So is history.

  35. Hammer fraud at 22.55. Would it not be a good idea to improve your own literacy first? You mention "listening" to what Harry says, nobody who reads NewsNow was listening to what he said. We were all reading the way he described Leeds as one of the "finest teams" he'd seen, which is something else you got wrong displaying your lack of literary prowess. Thirdly, i think you'll find he's called Harry and not "Arry". Must sign off now as unlike you i don't have all day to write and research all things Leeds United. Keep Marching On........Alone.
