Well it didn't take long for the Leeds United Feel Good Factor Express to derail did it? Week one and 33,000 poured through the turnstiles to cheer Leeds on to an epic 2-1 victory over Brighton No Hope Albion; week two and just 23,766 traded the KFC Family Bucket and 20 cans of Carling from Tesco for the opportunity to watch the once mighty Whites squeak a draw against local rivals Sheffield Wednesday.
So, three games in, two of which were at home and only one of which was against a team likely to challenge for a place in the top 8, and Leeds have settled into familiar territory, 9th place in the Championship, with two teams below them - Wigan and Doncaster - having a game in hand; and should either win, Leeds will slip to tenth.
Of course, the good news is that Leeds remain unbeaten after 3 league games and one Cup game; the bad news is that 3 league games in and only 3 goals have been scored, with McCormack - who may yet leave - bagging two of them! McDermott is busy looking for a centre half when clearly a goal scoring striker is urgently needed.
Mind you, Leeds fans who listened to me will be a little bit richer tonight. I predicted 1-1 before the game and I had a tenner on at 13/2. I hope others followed my lead - because then they might be able to afford that family bucket and attend a game!
12:15 kick off, games on TV plus it was a category A game
ReplyDeleteeven with the game on live, it was the highest championship attendance of the day!!
ReplyDeletewell predicted!
Wind up merchant, yet another none story.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same ,there's not enough goals in Leeds. Even last Year I felt the emphasis was only on Defence, but if you score a few goals you can concede a couple too...the problem is not so much defense but in not scoring enough goals..the defense does need touching up but so does the striking force.Leeds Need at least One Player who can score 22 per season and another who can score up to 18...Chris from Wales
ReplyDeleteI must admit drinnking 24 cans of Carling was more enjoyable than watching that crap!!
ReplyDeleteIt was a poor turn out for a Yorkshire Derby, and a poor game, this team is still 2/3 quality players from contending for promotion, and this team At present will have problems putting More bums on seats. Width/ Pace still being the lacking ingredient.
ReplyDeleteif you score One more goals than you concede you will do great. win enough matches at home and not lose Point at home..it early enough yet and as long Leeds make up for this by winning next week away all is good! but there has to be More Goals in leeds than there is for them to challenge.
ReplyDeleteThink (19.52) had 48 cans of Carling and no chicken!
ReplyDeleteErm 4 games in to the season and still haven't lost Neville , !!! , lets see if wank spam can match it princess
ReplyDeleteSheff Wed only sold 1000 and that is very poor away support so it was down to the match being free to everyone on freeview.
ReplyDeleteLeeds are not Creative enough in Midfield and lack someone like Gary Kelly who was a defender but also a great winger, saving leeds an Extra player.they must create more chances..they need a prolific striker but also a creative winger who can run at defense and cross the ball inside the Area...If you score more goals you will win more games..it that simple!
ReplyDeleteLame attempt of a wind-up spam dangler, note to self- I need a life!
ReplyDeleteall the other contenders are scoring many goals while leeds are not scoring hardly any..that leeds's draw back not just a weak defense. Goals Goals And More Goals Must come soon or Leeds will struggle to win their home games which is Crucial.
ReplyDeleteI was shocked by the amount of people NOT at the game, it was a joke. As soon as I saw that, I knew HF would mention it, but it is true. Only 23,766 for a Yorkshire derby. The fact it was on tv and category A is no excuse.
ReplyDeleteAppyAmmer
And did you go no didnt think so never mind saying im suprised at how many didnt go when you will of been one of them sitting on your armchair
DeleteYou do realise I am a hammer? hence the name appyammer
DeleteDid you enjoy the game today Neville ?? What time did you set off ? Lunch time ? , down the pub , catch up with you're mates , have a few beers , have a good laugh !!" , you must have been pretty excited , been looking forward to the new season starting , ?? NO ??? what do you mean you haven't been today !!! A football blogger that doesn't even go to games ? How do write about the games if you never go Neville?? I can see now where you find the time to write about Leeds all the time nev , you never go out much do you son ?? So what's all this about , you're questioning why our attendance is down this week !!! How can a fella that never goes to any game question why others haven't been this week ??!!! GO away Neville you're boring
ReplyDeleteHey, HAMMERSFANNYBOY....How much are the carling from tesco?
ReplyDeleteNo Point shouting here let address the real issues..Leeds needs more Action on the park and more goals..they are becoming boring to watch and follow. I'm a big fan of Leeds past decades and I want them to do well-BUT we must recognize their weaknesses, address them, and move forward. at the moment,Not enough goals for me.someone said we need to score more than we lose,Spot on sir.spot on.
ReplyDeletethat is really the real Issue. Scoring more than conceding is really the Aim and not to lose too many Points at home is a must. for every home game you lose you have to win an away game to make up for the loss,Good Point Chris,They need at least two Good strikers and someone else said a Gary kelly to do both defend and attack at the same time. Leeds fans come on,demand more Players. the Chairman/Owners must learn that if they don't produce, the fans will keep away..that how it goes..
i would love to give you a good slap stick to supporting your amazing club
ReplyDeletenice one hf,nice one..........
ReplyDeleteboring
10,000 less at Elland Road today but we more than made up for that with the 1.5 billion people WORLDWIDE that watched it free on Sky
ReplyDeleteVery true. The more profits generated from TV coverage of football the better. It's Prem clubs like West Ham who benefit of course, so widening the gap with Championship clubs like Leeds. Nice one.
Deleteenjoy the west ham victory today from your armchair in eastern europe? i looked at the west ham squad today hf and i honestly can see you struggling this season.you havent added enough.dont worry about leeds mate we will be fine! :)
DeleteNot sure we needed to "add" after finishing tenth last season with Cardiff, Palace and Hull promoted. Sunderland, Norwich and Stoke will all struggle. I fancy West Brom will regret bringing in Anelka and Vydra and will be bottom half too. Newcastle has the capacity to tear itself apart again after the appointment of Kinnear. Martinez will damage Everton too. But Carroll, Downing and Rat look like good additions to me, and the return of Diarra is like getting a new player too. And then there is Morrison!
Deletebut what is success for west ham hf? id love to know.is it finishing above the teams you mentioned?ive copied your whole reply and saved it on my comp so come may 2014 i can remind you how wrong you were with your predictions.after today i think swansea may suffer second season syndrome.where do you think lufc will finish this season hf?
DeleteI've already gone on record to predict that Leeds will finish between 8th and 10th.
DeleteSuccess for West Ham? Remaining in the Prem would do us all. But we hope for more.
Swansea? Second season syndrome? This is their third season up you twat!
Deletebit harsh hf,i got it wrong.everyone has been talking about swansea like they are a great team but i dont see it that way.
Deletehow many games you getting to this season hf? x
All the teams you mentioned apart from stoke will Finnish above you spam dangler!
DeleteYou keep reminding everybody that you finished tenth last season and that you have strengthened your squad this season, so surely you should be aiming higher than tenth then not just wanting to remain in the prem, stop dictating yourself, u have no chance of finishing above or near tenth again this season! #truthhurts
DeleteWhy don't you guys invest your dole money on West Ham to be relegated? You'll get quite good odds. Then double it up with Leeds to get promoted. Think of all the Family Buckets you could afford if that came up!
DeleteShame you didn't bet on the 1-1 result I predicted for yesterday's game with Wednesday!
dole money? family buckets? your insults are getting worse
Deletewhy dont you invest your money in a flight out of that shithole you currently live in back to london and actually attend a west ham match?
I did bet on it, but not on your recommendation! And as for talking about money, I've got more than is needed for a plush lifestyle! You might have afew quid but you are not alone! Worked hard for it ;-),anyway money is irrelevant when your happy and I am, unlike you are not because you have nothing to do but sit in your string vest, scratching your tanks and trolling the internet! Would love the police to check your history! Love you spam dangler! You do bite like a bitch! Ha ha ha
DeleteYes, it was a poor crowd. Still, was the largest in the division. It's teams like Birmingham and Middlesboro who have something to worry about with this matter.
DeleteHF DIDNT KNOW YOU COULD COUNT TO 10,000
ReplyDeletePS PLEASE PUT YOUR SOCKS BACK ON YA FEET STINK
MUST BE ALL RUNNING YA BEEN DOING RUNNING AWAY FROM MILLWALLS
F TROOP
TORDMORDEN WHITES
The amount of time you spend writing about Leeds, surprised you have the time to watch your own mob...think you would 'RADEBE LEEDS'....keep on writing your shite! always worth a laugh..MOT
ReplyDeleteWhen will they realize that without more international talent they have little chance of going up?
ReplyDeleteBoring gane. Leeds will do well to make play offs. Great manager but no money. Current owners hsve good business sense but will not get us to the promised land! Where is the big investment?
ReplyDeleteRE LITTLE CHANCE OF GOING UP ILL TREAT THAT STATEMENT WITH THE CONTEMP IT DESERVES DIDNT LEEDS WIN THE OLD 1ST DIVISION WITH CASTOFFS N YOUNG KIDS DAVID BATTY GARY KELLY N OLD MAN GORDON STRACKEN THE LEEDS ACADEMY IS ALIVE N KICKING AIDI WHITE SAM BYRAM TOM LEES DOMONIC POLEON ALL REGULAR 1ST TEAMERS & ALL PRODUCTS OF THE LEEDS ACADEMY NUF SAID
ReplyDeletelive on tv.its allways been the prices for leeds fans.me included.27 pound or watch it on sky.if it was a b or c game,i would have gone.the game well, same old leeds for me.plenty of effort, but no end product.we need a snodgrass,or someone to change a game.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, how sad. I know you are only posting to get a response to your drivel, but I feel the need to point out a few things anyway.
ReplyDeleteVersus Brighton the match was a category C and the cheapest adult ticket was £20. For the first match of the season, the fact it was pay day for most, and the beginning of the school holidays, and Bates leaving the club, it was bound to be a big crowd.
This match was a couple of weeks later, and to be honest people are a bit skint. We are not millionaires, and some people have to pick and choose their matches. For most this was an expensive match. It was a category A, the cheapest adult ticket being £31, and the most expensive was £36. It was only £27 if you were in the family stand with a child.
I went to the match but even I thought this was too much for people with other expenses to consider. It was a little disappointing, but the fact it was an early kick off and on TV, didn't help. It's not an excuse really, but a FACT, that people are not made of money. Plus many will be on their holidays.
Our fans don't all venture from Leeds you know. We have fans all over the world and the UK, and travel expenses bump up the price of a day out.
Fans will have given this a miss and will go to the next home match, which incidentally is on TV and an early kick off also. There will be an increase in the attendance (pay day) but not by much, it is a category B match and the cheapest adult ticket is £26. These (Kop & South Stand) sell out fast, and the next ticket available for a B category is £31.
I still say that we have done well to get that many due to other factors as mentioned. Plus it was the biggest Championship attendance of the day, what were other teams excuses?
Same as yours I expect. West Ham were charging over £40 for cheapest ticket in Championship and sold out almost every game. But West Ham are now a bigger club than Leeds so I suppose we shouldn't be surprised!
Deletehow would you know west ham are a bigger club? you probably cant name half their players you plastic c**t
DeleteTotally different circumstances. Would your team have sold out having been almost 10 seasons out of the top flight? NO WAY IN HELL.
DeleteTwo relegations, points deductions, selling off your best players and replacing them with rubbish, plus having a criminal in charge for years, is enough to drive the most dedicated of fans away. After all of this it is still an achievement that we are still getting 20+ crowds. We had an average of 25,000+ crowds with the highest being 37,000+ in League 1 by the way, whilst still paying Premier League prices.
Would your club still be getting crowds as high as this after 10 years of out of the PL if all of the above had happened? Would it hell!
I would also venture to say that when we were first relegated from the Premier League we had high crowds. A natural occurrence when you are one of the favourites and expected to go back up. You bought and kept most of your players and had parachute payments to boot. We had FA and sold them all for reasons that are well documented.
I suspect if you hadn't have bounced straight back up last year, your club would have been in serious trouble financially and you would have struggled to keep any decent players, and crowds.
For the record West Ham, maybe be a bigger club in terms of revenue and the Premier League status, but if we ever get back there and you are still there struggling in mid-table mediocrity, Leeds will always be the BIGGER club.
It's hard to answer that point because West Ham have NEVER been in the third tier of English football and have not spent 10 consecutive years outside of the top division in my lifetime.
DeleteIn fact, since I have supported the club, going back to 1968, we have only spent 9 seasons in total out of the top division. You Leeds fans have the cheek to call West Ham a Yo Yo club but you have yo yoed more than us, and now the string is tangled around the mechanism and you simply dangle forlornly, like the Duke of York, neither half way up nor half way down!
You are no doubt right, but what I find funny is the fact that while this yo-yo-ing has been going on, we are still more well known and famous than West Ham will ever be. Oh and we seemed to have won a few trophies to boot. What have you won during such longevity in the top flight?
DeleteGo anywhere in the world and there will be a Leeds United fan, and someone that has heard of Leeds United. The same can't be said of West Ham.
How many teams have their on Wikipedia page dedicated to the phrase "Doing A Leeds?!"
How many teams have had a film produced about them?
Yes, it may make us infamous also, but in the grand scheme of things in comparison, you are nothing really.
How sad that you have to fill time on your little blog talking about Leeds, to get hits. The irony is that I have responded, just like you want, but I have done so because I find you amusing, and a little bit irritating like a gnat.
To be honest I have nothing against West Ham, but your ramblings make you and them look foolish.
West Ham are NOT bigger than Leeds,NEVER have been,NEVER will be.FACT.....MOT
ReplyDeleteReally? West Ham spent £20m this summer on new players, Leeds spent £1m. West Ham had a full house yesterday with ticket prices of £60 a throw, Leeds had a half full stadium with tickets at half that price. West Ham will soon have a 60,000 capacity stadium; Leeds top out at 40,000.
DeleteYou lot are like a bunch of Hungarians claiming to be the most powerful nation in Europe on the basis of the old Magyar Empire! Leeds are a shot bolt!
Your posts are starting to get a bit vindictive, where has the humour gone,I feel that you don't even support West Ham but have an addiction for Leeds that you can't admit too, this blog only survives on the strength of Leeds Uniteds historical success and undying fan base. Without Leeds United what would you post about???????????.
DeleteStereotyping northerners, love it, 24 cans if carling and a KFC bargin bucket lol. It's almost like saying the east end is a crime ridden shithole but that would be sterotyping, wouldn't it?
ReplyDeleteHow's it feel to be a minority in your own community?
ReplyDeleteWhat I think he is trying to say here is that your community is a multicultural ethnically diverse society... Disgusting.
Deleteno fans have abandoned WH as they never had any in the first place!
ReplyDeletemanaged to pull 1000 more than mid table to poor championship side on first day of the season, after all your big money signings....no interest in WH from anyone...even you
Empires rise and fall , Leeds will rise again , as forwest ham , you've blagged a free stafium that you will never fill , as for you're 20 million spent, Leeds spent far in exess of thay when we were in the top flight and it got us nowhere , west ham are a yo yo club who's only ambition has been to eat at the top table , always a poor bridesmaid , Leeds on the other hand are a world famous club and will be again within 5 seasons , but by that time you lot will be relegated once more having made no impact on the premiership what so ever , oh and dole money !! I earn 50k per year spammer , how much does a teacher and failef journalist earn Neville ??? Nob head
ReplyDelete50k a year eh? What do you do for that? Not sure what a teacher and failed journalist earns but I shouldn't think it is much under 50k in London.
DeleteAnd yes, Leeds did spend much more than £20m and look where it got you! As you say Empires rise and fall, but tell me which one has risen, fallen and risen again? Turkish Empire? Latvian Empire? Magyar Empire? Aztec Empire? Roman Empire? Leeds Empire? That's probably a boarded up cinema!
When are you globetrotting again?I believe Monaco is very nice...Neville/Walter Mitty hehe..MOT
ReplyDeletePolatics and football can not be compared , a British empire is not to be compared to football teams fortunes , I'm old enough to remember revie etc , then came the fall and rise again under wilko , I also remember man u in the old seconf division but look at what they've done since , my point is that Leeds will rise to the top again and on route you'll still be happy being a bit part player , oh and I earn my 50k per year working for a blue chip chemical company ; there you go nev , I'm being honest , now you tell me what you do for a living ?
ReplyDeleteChemical company? Which one? So, a Leeds fan who stinks of sulphur? How appropriate!
DeleteI think I've told you before, I am a landlord. I own a number of properties and live off the rental income. It's a tough life. Why do I live abroad? Exemption from CGT and because money goes so much further outside of the sterling / Euro zone.
What did you do when you was younger to earn your money for properties?

DeleteLast season of course. Daft question. And death in family prevented me being there yesterday.
ReplyDeleteWe need a creative midfielder and a bit of pace out wide. poor game yesterday. Does the big lad up front for Wednesday really get paid for playing football??
ReplyDeleteH/f you make me laugh... but yes you are a prick.
A death in the family prevented you attending a football game yet you found time to sit on you're computer all day (check the post times ) writting about a number of football teams ( mainly Leeds ) , that's a funny way to be greaving for a family member , nothing ever rings true does it Neville ??!!
ReplyDeleteOn TV, 12.15 kick off and highest attendance of the day. Another failed trolling attempt lol.
ReplyDeletewest ham ,now a bigger club than leeds just because you are a division above us and youve spent some money. when west ham win the league and all the other trophys leeds have won let alone all the european campaigns. leeds united are known all over the world, cant say the same of west ham, im afraid west ham will never be bigger than leeds united
ReplyDeleteBoom! Bang on Mate! What a gobshite this old bollocks is
ReplyDeleteMmm match prices up 39% yesterday, attendance down 32% ...
ReplyDeleteI think even HF could do the math on this one!!
Plus £220,000 Sky money!

ReplyDeletejust glad you can not have kids to make your family any bigger.

ReplyDeleteSteve Lomas ex West Ham player now manager of Millwall has given them their worst start to a season since 1977. Spammer fan is too scared to do an article about that.
ReplyDelete
