Oil Money Has Dried Up At Leeds Already

Dear me, Old Big Gob has let the cat out of the bag big time. I wondered aloud why Leicester had been allowed to snap up Chris Wood and Warnock has supplied the answer, explaining,

"We've also got the transfer window opening and we'll be trying to make some signings straight-away. It looks like I've missed out on Chris Wood – I just can't compete financially with Leicester City – but I'm hoping to tie up some of the players I've had on loan."

You what? Mighty Leeds United under new ownership can't compete with little old Leicester City? What's happened to the £8m transfer war chest? What's happened to GFH Capital's commitment to back a charge for promotion?

According to some reports, Wood is being bought for just £1.25m. That's chicken feed surely? But chicken feed that the mighty GFH Capital appear unwilling to cough up. Is Master Bates a major shareholder in the Islamic bank by any chance?

  6. Keep Fighting to avoid the drop you Sad Sad Hammers!
This is all that Team ever hope to achieve and this is why the REAL 'Old Big Gob', (Hammersfan), loses interest in the 'Sad's' and is infatuated by Leeds.

  8. Don't be naive, hf. If other clubs get a sniff of the millions he has to spend this will inflate the prices of the players he really wants.

An interesting tactic this one though.

  9. Or with Becchio scoring more goals than Woods, 20 goal man McCormack on the bench and the returning Somma he has seen enough to make him look at other areas. Leicester have definitely done us a favour by prising him away from a play off rival but Woods would struggle to dislodge Becchio from the team.

Listen to what NW wants his rivals to hear and be fooled HF.

  11. Nice try, but no-one ever said there was huge amounts of oil money and i wouldn't trust Warnock to spend it correctly even if there was (just look at the dumbos he took into QPR and note harry's remarks)also you are forgetting that Bates is still chairman till the end of the season and he still retains control of any spending and if you happen to read the financial reports there is an awful lot of dead wood (Yorkshire Radio) to be got rid of before Leeds can stabilize it's finances; there is also the off chance that NW is trying to be clever to stop clubs asking stupid prices for the players he does want to bring in; no scrub that thought he shouts the odds too much about nowt for anyone to believe him. by the way what's the current odds on big sam getting the boot before the end of the season? 12. It's wages that will be the thing he can't compete with. Any team that pays Beckford £40k per week in the Championship is run by fools!

Now they have offloaded him to Huddersfield they can afford to continue to pay above the odds for average players.

It's probably a smokescrean from NW anyway. Why not let potential sellers think we are skint?

  13. £30k per week! Glad we can't compete!

  14. If Woods is demanding 30k per week leicester can have him.. stupid wages are what got us into a financial implosion in the first place. This is the championship after all .. Beckford at a cut price and half the wages.. Yes Please
